people that say they believe the bible because there is proof of it as to their reason for believing, doesn't register? If you say you believe in the bible and only the bible because of evidence, wouldn't that mean that you really don't have any faith to begin with?

okay, so you are all "saying" you believe the bible. what lead to that conviction? and why would you think that the bible is all that God has ever or will ever say. He used to speak through a prophet. why wouldn't He do that today when it seems like we need Him more than ever?

Mike M i know the definition of faith. it just seems that most argue for the bible because of proof. they only believe because they have seen. not the other way around.

no. im a very religious christian. ill tell u that the bible isn't our only proof. it is just our main guide. but once u get into your religion, the bible has nothing to do w/ the way u feel in ur relationship w/ Christ. faith is all in u, nothing 2 do w/ proof

Well I think I'll just get everybody mad at me!
I think believing in God is the natural state for humans. All around the world in every culture we see people believing in God (or gods). I also think we all lack the ability (definitely including me) to really understand what God is.
There are only a few ways to cope with that. You can subscribe to a particular system of belief because you think it is the best. That would, of course, lead you to believe other belief systems are wrong, or at least not as good as yours. History has shown us that this is a real good way to start wars and fuel hatred. You could also forget the whole thing and decide there is no God.
The only way out I can see is to make up your own mind while respecting the beliefs of others, including atheists (who might be dearly loved by God).

I think you may not have the definition of faith correct. Faith is NOT believing without evidence. That would be "Blind Faith".
Faith is:
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things we hope for, the certainty of things we cannot see.
We cannot see Heaven, but we have faith it's there. I have faith, because, in part, I have looked at evidence pointing to the Bible being true and now I trust the Bible. Evidence like fulfilled prophecy, for example.

The Holy Spirit is a witness to each believer in Jesus Christ that not only is the Bible the Inspired Word of God, but that what we accept by faith is true.

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. The word of God IS the Bible

The fact of the matter is that no one will ever know until the day they day. So...that is why I remain agnostic. Also, who really gives a **** anyhow? Someone can believe in god or they could not, I don't care so long as they don't push their beliefs on me like some pompous ***.

What evidence is their that proves there is no God?If anyone can give me an answer I'd like to hear it?This goes to anyone asking or answering your question.I believe that there is a God and that Jesus died for our sins.I'm tired of hearing there is no proof of God's existence.

No. I know God is real and trustworthy because of evidence - prophetic, mostly. But I also have to have faith that what he promises is real. I haven't died yet but I have faith I will go to heaven because God said I would. There's no evidence that I will go to heaven, but based on what I already know about God's character and faithfulness I still know I'm going.

You are absolutely correct, as proof denies faith by definition.
