not trying to be facetious, but didn't the catholic diocese just pay quite a bit a few mills (out of court settlement) for all those alleged sexually abused alter boys, so how could you even make this stmt just some one who watched the news that particular day i know no one is perfect but this stmt contradicts the countless times some priest, was brought up on charges for these sex crimes what because they are catholic, they cant be registered sex offenders excuse me for not sharing your opinion
doent sound like much deprivation there

I can't say I would agree with that. When I was an adolescent, more years ago than I care to remember, I used to prefer Catholic girls because they were freer with their favours, ie less uptight, than the others.

For twenty years I have lived in France, a predominately Catholic country. In the small village where I live there is a nice 400 year old Church that rings the bells for the call to Mass, three times a day. I consider it a sad fact that you can never attend a Mass in this church, simply because there are no priests to give one. In fact there is now only one priest for roughly ten chuches and they are getting less and less volunteers to be priests. I am not a Cahoilic, but I think its very sad, none the less. There is a lot of lip service, but few true believers and from my own experience nobody is uptight about sexual things if they are less than 70, quite the contrary!

Worse, in Italy, the bîrthplace of Catholicsim and according to the latest statistics, 1; 5 % of the population regulary attend a Black Mass againts 1.25% that attend the normal mass. Its probobale that the Protestants do even worse, but the statistics don't mention that.

In short, Christianity is on its way out in Europe, and if it wasnt for the Bibbe belt, in America too. I fnd it a great shame that over there, you cannot seem to get your act together and make a single Christian voice. Perhaps the reason lies in the way you pastors/ priests are renumerated. Over here thay have a salary from the church. Over there, if I understand it correctly, each is paid for by the attending congregation. 'et Alors, vive la difference'!

United you stand, divided you fall! Wise up else the Devil will take the hindmost untill none remain!

Most people would disagree with you and say that Catholics are much less uptight about sex than the "puritanical" Protestants.

God is concerned with how we treat each other.

We have been instructed to love
+ Our neighbor as we love ourselves
+ One another as Jesus loved us

When we treat each other like sex objects, when sex is taking instead of giving, we damage the human dignity of both our partner and ourselves.

True giving of yourself to another in a sacramental marriage is what love is all about.

Marriage is a symbol of God's creation of the world in an act of divine love and self-outpouring.

Marriage is a symbol of the love, commitment, intensity, and passion of Christ for the Church for which He laid down His life.

Catholics take sex very seriously because it is a glorious gift from God that lets us feel just a bit like God. We become lovers, givers, and creators.

With love in Christ

Dear CJ.
I think you're quite misinformed. Catholics who attend mass only on Sunday have read multiple selections from their Bible; usually one Old Testament selection, one selection from the Gospels, and one other New Testament selection, as well as a psalm and other parts of the Bible.

Catholics are not saved by virtue of being Catholic, but by the Grace of God. Some Catholics do things that are contrary to the Bible, but there is nothing at all in Catholic teaching that contradicts the Bible.

Jesus said "Take this and eat it; 'This Is My Body'".
Catholics believe that. Protestants say, without evidence, that it was symbolic.

Jesus said "Confess your sins one to another. Catholics believe that. Protestants say you can take your sins directly to God.

Protestants hold to Sola Scriptura; there is nothing in scripture to suggest that the Bible alone contains all we were meant to understand. Sola Scriptura itself is not Biblical.

So, to claim that Catholics are not saved Christians is really to misunderstand scripture, Catholics and church history. To believe that means that one does not have all the facts, and is therefore speaking from at least a certain level of ignorance.

To answer the actual question, look at the comment from CJ, and that might itself explain why some Catholics are up tight, as it were.

BTW ... I'm not Catholic.

That is not true. We are taught it is sacred between a husband and wife and that pretty much everything is OK for us to do in the marriage bed (or um outside of it too).

CJ I just had a prayer group / bible study today with two Catholics attending we read Exodus 33 and discussed Samuel 6. We read the bible and take notes too. I just think you write this stuff to see how many people will respond.

Well once your married within the Catholic faith, you can have sex whenever you please (within your marriage) so long as your not using birthcontrol including condoms. The only form of birthcontrol is called natural family planning which is making sure not to have sex when the female is ovulating. Sex is great for married couples to have. Even Catholic ones.
But yeah a TRUE Catholic does read their Bibles and act like Christians. The rest don't actually understand what it means to be a true Christian. For the rest it is just like being programmed to do something. I have so-called Catholic friends and though they want to be Christians, they want to find another form of Christianity that seems more purposeful and involved in the true meaning of Christianity, not just following something without having the slightest sense of why.

Iam not up tight about sex and none of the Catholics I know are either. We just do something most people dont. Self responsibility. And sex between a married couple is for alot more then procreation.

True dat, to what CJ said. They do not study their bibles. They may look up verses here and there, but they do not actually sit down and read it word for word-- from front to back, or study books of the Bible. (Maybe some do on their own and that is great, but those who I know who did this on their own eventually left the Catholic church because they saw so much error in their doctrine) I have a cousin who left the catholic church and her mom is not happy with her....she is a born again christian now- PRAISE GOD!

OH wait, back to catholics being uptight- yeah my moms side of the family are all catholics and ALL uptight....it seems to me anyway.

wait a minute- I just said something mean, that probably wasn't very nice of me....I need to stick to just saying they are in false doctrine but not make any personal attacks.....geesh- see what you made me do chippy! Grrrrrrrr...
