Jesus died for our sins, and God must have known that would happen, so why are the Jews condemned? Why would God condemn his own chess pieces?

Luke 23:13-25
Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him. Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death. Therefore, I will punish him and then release him."

With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!" (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"

For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."

But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. So Pilate decided to grant their demand. He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

i think they obey the Satan and give favor to the evil.

You got the story wrong. The Romans crucified Jesus. Jews were living under the rule of the Romans. They had no judicial power. Besides, there is no such thing as crucifixion in their entire history let alone crucifying one of their own. Jesus was opposed by some very strict rabbi's and when they called him to explain himself, he said nothing. Different schools of thought exist even today within Judaism but is has never had anything to do with crucifying anyone. The Romans saw Jesus as a threat because he was against their empire and control of Jerusalem just like the other Jews. The difference was that he was against violence whereas some other Jews were for forcing the Romans out which they finally did. But just so that this myth gets settled, if the Irish killed another Irish, would the British keep talking about it for years or would it rest as an Irish problem? So, why are all non-Hebrews so concerned with what happened amongst Hebrews and not mind their own business. It is just like non-Arab Muslims being against Arab muslims. Mohammad was an Arab. Wouldn't his own people know him better than other nations that were converted to Islam years later. So, get with it.

dude, the romans executed (not killed) jesus.

jesus lived in a provice operated under roman law, jesus violated that law and suffered the consequences.

saying anything more is like saying charles manson should not be imprisoned and is bieng "unjustly held" or ted bundy.

they broke the law and paid for it.

not only did he break roman law, but if he caused the same trouble he did then now, he would have also broken american law.

In the case of bieng held up as a divine bieng then no, he would not have violated american law.

however, if he went into a church, temple or mosque and caused a riot today like he did in the temples in jerusalem, then he would be thrown in jail whether "dubya" liked it or not.

EDIT: Lilly: from a historical standpoint, I find it hard to believe that the romans did not take offence to someone coming from an already problematic province (they would not worship roman officials and the emporer alongside thier god), who now claimed that he was not only divine but the son of god?

A lowly manual laborer was putting himself on the same social position and status as the emporer of rome? You don't think that was offensive.

I think the vatican should apologize to emporer Tiberious.

More precisely -- the Jewish leaders demanded Christ's execution. The Romans did not see him as a threat and the Jewish people were too frightened to speak out against their leaders. Equate it to Germany in WWII; Anyone to speak out against Hitler was executed. What happened to Jesus was pretty much on the same idea.

What is truly appalling is that our current pope wishes to reinstate Latin mass which explicitly blames the Jewish people for Christ's execution. This is not true and the Vatican knows it.

Bigotry is alive and well.

Bluto: If you want to believe what you've been trained to believe then go for it. But the fact remains that the Roman's (left to their own devices) would not have crucified Christ. They did NOT see him as a threat. Christ was an example and personally, I don't think it matters who was actually responsible for the crucifixion.

There are many things that the Vatican has stored away -- much of it would completely destroy the basis of modern Christianity. This does NOT make that information any less valid. It means only that the churches serve to create separation and division among believers. In essence, they serve themselves.

Personally, I feel that if you are going to have faith in Christ, then focus on how he lived rather than his crucifixion. There was a pope (I cannot remember which one though) who stated that it would not be a wise thing to focus one's faith on the crucifixion. You would be very wise to think about why a pope would say that. They know something you don't know...

The Romans executed Jesus. The Jews were forbidden to impose any punishment that would shed blood.

A senior American cardinal has asked Jews to reconsider descriptions of Jesus as a "bastard" in exchange for a softening of traditional Catholic prayers calling for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

Jews didn't kill Jesus. They were too busy whining and counting pennies.
