#1 Chem engineers.....but you'll eventually lose your sense of smell

#2 Mechanical engineer...But you'll eventually top out financially

#3 Bio engineer... To volatile a market

#4 RN...but you really have to love caring for people, and they don't make that much money to justify all the crap that they go through

It should not be a problem to find a job in any of those fields, the RN is THE growth job though.
The Chemical engineer should pay the most right out of school, this is deceiving though. While engineers make among the highest salaries right out of school, sadly engineering is a limiting job and some people with lame business degrees will eventually earn more than engineers a few years out of school. I have been a Electrical Engineer for 12 years, had my MSEE for almost 5 years. I like my job but it is a fact that I am what Corporate America can not stand, high priced labor.
Engineers are salaried or exempt (If that is what salaried people are called now). When I work 55 hours a week, I am still paid for the 40. I have worked well in excess of 60 hours a week for months and ended up making less per hour than the assembly people on the manufacturing floor.
The RN should always be able to pick up more money by working an extra shift/hours.
IMHO, The RN is the best of the four jobs. Tremendous demand, job stability, ability to make extra money and at the end of the day, they help people who are in need!

There is one thing certain: if your main question about any of these fields is "Who makes the most money!", in all likelihood most of your peers will make more money than you by actually focusing on learning rather than earning.

Engineer is something that requires a gift and idealism. If you are missing either, you will become a bitter, low paid engineer.

How about going for an MBA? Not only will you make more money than an engineer, but your economic interests will also be aligned with your job description.

Any of these 4 professions can provide a good living wage. I suggest you ask yourself which profession would you like best? As far as the fastest growing, the RN wins. You can get a job anywhere in the country as a registered nurse.

RN is the fastest growing job right now, but it might not be by the time you graduate.
Some graduate RN's make as much as graduate engineers.

chemical definitely makes more and is probably the most versatile engineering degree. right now you will get snatched up right out of school but may only last a few more years. the market is cyclical. BUT i agree with others, job satisfaction should be #1. im a chem e though and its very cool. just make sure you pick the RIGHT job (do internships and co-ops) good luck and get ready to study

You can get hired faster as a nurse than as a engineer. nurses never have lay offs but engineers get laid off. get the paper and look in the classified ads and look how big the section is thats about engineering jobs and then look at how big the section is thats about nursing jobs. there is hospital in every city and that hospital needs a nurse but there is not an engineering firm in every city. i know some nurses that become head of a whole staff of other nurses who makes over one hundred thousand dollars per year.when you are first starting off in life the thing to do is to get your money located, get it made, get it saved and get it invesgted. after that, then you can sit back and think about what you really want to do in life and have the money to do it with.

Remember the best things in life are truly free.
There is an old saying: "Do what you love, or enjoy and you will never work a day in your life, the money will take care of itself"

RN's are really in demand and they pay very well. But do what your heart tells you to do.
