Check in your paper, or try petfinder.com, or Dog Fancy magazine. Have you had dogs before? If you have a good trainer then you can ask your trainer if he/she knows anyone. ALWAYS get papers on your dog and get references from the breeder. Go and check the dogs out and make sure their living conditions are good. Ask how many litters the mother has had and with how many different fathers. If they can't give you papers on the dogs then go somewhere else. Yorkies can be VERY exensive and can have a lot of medical problems if they have been inbred.

Since this question is on UK Answers, I assume you are in the UK.
Firstly, there is NO such breed as a Toy Yorkie. All Yorkshire Terriers should weigh less than 7 lbs.
To be sure of buying a purebred Yorkie (Not one that will grow into a stonking great Terrier!), only buy one that is Kennel Club Registered, there are too many breeders out there selling Yorkshire Terriers which are anything but,
Only buy from a reputable, knowledgable breeder - find out your nearest by contacting one of the many Yorkshire Terrier Breed Clubs who will also be able to tell you the going price for a well bred puppy:
Breed clubs are listed at the bottom of the page here:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

If you check the standard you will find that Yorkies come in any size up to 7 pounds and hten they can also be out of standard and get larger. There is no such thing as a Toy Yorkie;however, a Yorkie is in the toy group. anyone advertising toy or mini or teacup they are not good breeders and just trying to get money out of you.
Where are you located I know of a breeder that has two pups that we don't think will get over 4-4 1/2 pound. they are only 3 weeks old right now.

Yorkies are quite expensive if you buy from a reputable breeder. If you buy from a pet store you are most likely going to get one that came from a puppy mill and you will also pay twice the amount for it.

You should also learn about the Yorkie breed before purchasing one. Most Yorkies are little yappers. They can be trained not to yap but that will take patience. Some are stubborn about potty training and it can take up to a year or more before you can say they are truly housebroken.

If you are serious about getting a Yorkie, there are many 'Yorkie Rescues' that you can apply to adopt one. No, they are not free. And, yes, most of them are adults, seniors or those with medical problems but don't let the deter you. Yokies can live long lives if they are well cared for and loved. Love is as important as anything because without love, they will not thrive and be healthy.

I was fortunate enough to get a Yorkie boy from a breeder. Because he had Liver Shunt Disease, she gifted him to me if I would care for him. He lived for only 10 months and died the day after his Liver Shunt surgery. The medical bills were unimaginable but the love this little one gave back was priceless. He is missed greatly. Trooper Boy was his name.

My breeder charges $ 1,000 and up for her Yorkies. (A good breeder will also buy your Yorkie back if you decide it isn't what you thought it would be. They will also take them back if they find out you are not caring for them properly. You will sign an agreement acknowledging this.)

I just adopted a Yorkie girl, 3 years old. She had been abused but has now come around to trusting people again. In a week or so, I will be getting me an 11 month old Yorkie boy.

They are adorable pets!

Good Luck!

All Yorkies are toy breeds. If you are talking about a TEACUP yorkie... BUYER BEWARE!!! THERE IS NO SUCH BREED AS A TEACUP! Check ANY of the SMALL BREED STANDARDS from the CKC and you will know! If you come across a breeder who uses this term, THEY ARE GIVING YOU FALSE INFORMATION! A good breeder of small breeds WILL NEVER REFER to any of their puppies as TEACUPS/POCKET PUPS ECT! Chances are, if you come across a pup that is smaller than usual, you are looking at a RUNT. RUNT's cost more, because they have cost the breeder more to take care of a keep healthy from birth. Chances are that breeder had to stay up night and day to keep this tiny pup healthy, so hence the cost will go up. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON. A reputable breeder will not breed for teacups but for the breed as a whole to the best of their ability. Any breeder who is breeding for teacups, is not looking out for the dog's breed as a whole and certain other factors that breeders SHOULD be breeding for may be overlooked, such as temperment, health, and conformation. MY BEST ADVICE to those of you looking for a small breed dog IS BEWARE OF BREEDERS USING THE TERMS TEACUPS/POCET PUPS ETC, as it is a marketing scam and you could end up paying ALOT OF MONEY for an unhealthy dog. Thats NOT to say that all runts are unhealthy. Many runts grow up to live normal lives and are VERY HEALTHY. But a good breeder will always suggest that you pick the best looking pup from the litter for ALL of its QUALITIES, and not for its size. GOOD LUCK FINDING THAT PUPPY OF YOUR DREAMS AND USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!

I would search for responsible breeders who breed quality Yorkies for show.........find out what they charge for good quality pets...

then don't pay that much for a "toy Yorkie"

I would not buy a breed of dog from someone advertising them "falsely"...nor would I choose to buy a runt due to possible health issues

Check this website for breed rescue or breeder referrals. It's AKC so they are good quality and reputable. The classifieds aren't monitored so you have to do a lot of research on those people. Stay away from backyard breeders and pet stores. I'm glad to see someone who specifies "good breeder." Most people just jump in and say "hey I want a dog" and don't bother to learn about where the dog comes from. Thanks for thinking responsibly.
