I want great training like the Marines have to offer and also would like to have the most job opportunities after service like law enforcement and federal job etc. My parents are against me being in combat or life threatening situations. I am very smart and can do many more technical jobs. If I join the marines is it likely to avoid combat? Or am I better off with Navy or Air Force

It sounds like you are better suited to be a civilian.
Being in the military is called being "in the service" for a reason. If you are not willing to serve - they do not need you.

Unfortunately, with the way we are at war, there is no "safe" branch to enlist in any more. Even Navy members are seeing combat.
Your parents aren't the ones joining the military, you would be. If you want to be in the service to serve your country, do so. If you want to join the service for job training, that is also a good reason, but do know you will more than likely see combat as active duty. If you go reserve or guard duty, you may not see it for a while.
If you want the farthest from combat, be an administrative position. If you are smart, don't waste your time in an administrative position. There are certain jobs they are in need of, and will pay a lot of money. The military looks good on a resume no matter what your job is.
There is no way joining the Marines you can avoid combat. It just isn't a gurantee with any branch, especially not right now. You will be involved in it one way or another.
Basically, if you want to join the military, do it for the right reasons and do it for yourself. You parents need to respect any decision you are making. Chances are, since you are asking us on here, you are not ready to make that committment, especially not the physical committment the Marines require.
Sit down and talk it over with your parents, and talk to some recruiters from all branches.

You can learn good jobs in any of the branches. As far as being in dangerous situations it is going to happen.
Even the Air Force you are going to have planes crash landing, ordinance on the planes can go off by accident. You can think about the Coast Guard. It's safer in my opinion, but there are still dangers.
While I was in the Navy there was a guy that died while he was on watch for people going over board. Basically he just stood on the back end of the ship and looked to see if anyone had been blown over by jet exhaust. An F-14 was coming in for landing and the swells were high. The F-14 was coming in a little low, at the same time the back end of the carrier hit a swell causing the back end of the ship to go up. The F-14 crashed into the back of the carrier killing the guy that was standing there. You never know what will happen or when.

If you want to avoid combat or "dangerous situations" then do not join the military at all.
Even if you join the US Navy, or Air Force and have a non-combat job you will more than likely have to do things that are dangerous...sorry....
Based on what your looking for from the military I would recommend that you do not join the US Marines, and do not join any sort of infantry or combat arms.
I would not want someone like you watching my back your too interested in getting a free lunch to be depended on (job opportunities, no danger, easy way out ect...).

This is just my opinion, but based on your statements.
It would be beneficial for all concerned if you didn't join the military at all. If you are not willing to defend your country or get into life threatening situations, you are better off just staying a civilian.
Get an education and you have a better chance of getting one of those office jobs that you don't have to worry about anything, except maybe getting a paper cut from a piece of paper.

US Army on the first two options, but NONE on the last option. You will NOT avoid combat if you
enlist in the US Marine Corps, also the US Navy or the US Air Force. You would be better off by not joining the US Armed Forces.

You're more than likely not gonna get to go EVERYWHERE WITH HIM if he's in the military. My boyfriend's in the army, and I don't get to go EVERYWHERE with him, and neither does his family. If he joins any branch in the military, you're gonna have to suck it up and handle being without him for months, and possibly years if he ever gets deployed. Being in a relationship with someone in the military isn't as easy as it sounds, sweetheart.

Depends on your job or mos while in all Marines are not in comabt when deployed the grunts are but not other mos's and all branches are deployed too. but infantry mostly Marines and Army

Join the Air Force. If you join the Marines.... no matter if you are in aviation or ground forces.... you have a good chance of going into combat. The Navy floats around hot areas and can get blasted as seen with the USS Cole. The Army, like the Marines, has a small air wing for support of the ground troops...again good chance of combat. Currently, the Air Force really isn't doing much other than transportation of troops to hot areas. If I am incorrect and the Air Force is in hot areas.... I apologize to them.
So, if you want to join the military and serve your country....good for you. If you want to stay out of combat areas.... your best chance is the Air Force.
