im not sure how to exactly answer this but my daughter is 15 months old now and has been having screaming fits or whatever you want to call them since she was about 5 or 6 months old im not sure why but i do the whole ignoring thing and it doesnt work. my daughter doesnt want held, a sippy, fed, diaper change, dont look at her shell scream louder. dont go near her.. ive tried and tried and tried to take her in and get checked at first they said she just wanted attention. and not they tell me they cant do anything about it till shes older. theres other things to it but screaming is a sign of some medical problems. hopefull next year well find out whats wrong. all i have to say is GOOD LUCK. ive been dealing with it now for almost a year and i think i have a loss of hearing because of it she has only learned to get louder. she also likes to spin in circles out of no where and she is SEVERLY pigeoned toed... good luck

like they all said... he's testing you. be strong and ignore him as best you can. when he throws a fit, bring him to his room, put him down and wait for him to stop then talk calmly. whispering works too. At the store, leave immediately. the shopping can wait. and grampa's.. bring him to a bedroom or even a bathroom until hes finished. don't give in!! your the boss! it's ok to punish him. they're called "time outs" and they work when done correctly. this is only the first of many tests to come. every parenting book says the same thing "Be Consistent" no matter what you do. falter once and it'll take days or weeks to get him back. good luck.

At 7 months I don't know what you can really do about it. He is exercising those lungs. I remmeber going through this with my oldest one. We would play a game when she got too loud I would talk softly and wisper then she would start to wisper too. You may trying the shhhhhhhhh by covering your mouth with 1 finger. I do this with my 20 month old. He now tells the dog to shhhhhhhhhhhh.

This little trick came from Native Americans. Often they had to teach their babies not to cry or yell to avoid enemies. When your child starts to yell blow in his face for a second. He'll lose his wind for a second, and although it will be unpleasant for him, it won't hurt him. Do it often enough and he'll learn not to yell all the time.

Theres not much you can do, try telling him no in a stern way so he understands that its not ok. Other than that you may have to let the phase pass.

Don't acknowledge it, even though it drives you up the wall the more you ignore it the more he will catch on that nobody is listening to him.

lol, welcome to childhood. This is normal. He's just testing his limitations, and testing you. Let him scream, but ignore him. When he finds out that his screaming does not get a response, he'll quit doing it.
