Do you get upset or offended when people say your dog is ugly or something like that?
I do personally because they are like my children.

Hasn't happened to me - my black lab is sooo cute!
But my hubby's cousin has a boxer and someone she knew came right out and told her 'man, you're dog is ugly!'. It made her cry!
I can't believe anyone would say such a thing! All animals are cute in their own way!

Yes, I do. I have three dogs that are my babies. My husband and I are doing fertility drugs and so far they haven't worked, and my dogs are my children! I talk about them all the time, and some think they are cute and others say oh wow, and I do get offended... Or if it's not that my mom knows they are like my kids and she'll tell me that her dog is perfect and mine are crazy and hyper and tries to tell me how to raise my dogs! Oh this gets me so mad!! LOL

No one has ever said that to me (she really is a beautiful dog), but I would get offended. My parents had our golden retriever before I was born (I'm 18 now), and she was a huge part of our family, like a child to them. She died six years ago, and two years ago (after my CONSTANT begging) we got our second dog. She is my dog, registered in my name and she is my baby. I love her like a child. Wouldn't anyone be offended if someone told them their baby is ugly?

I haven't run into that situation, but yes. I would be highly offended. I do get POed when people say something about their personality or lack of discipline. Like when people call them stupid because they won't come to them. Their not stupid, they just don't like other people. They mind me just fine. I consider that good taste, not stupidity.
I think you should be allowed to smack anyone so rude as to call your baby ugly.

Yes I get very offended, I mostly get compliments about my puppy but some people are just plain rude.I have an English Bulldog puppy and i get the old line...hes so ugly hes cute, I HATE THAT!!

I don't ever own ugly dogs
Life is to short to date ugly men and have an ugly dog !!!
It just ain't right.
But, yes I am with you if someone says bad things about my dogs it is a reflection on me, as an owner and a mother of 4 legged kids

A lot of my friends tell me that my dogs are spoiled and that I do treat them like my family. Well, my kids are grown and I do love taking care of the dogs. One of my own daughters tells me that my cocker spaniel is ugly and yeah, that does bother the heck out of me.

No, not really. If I have a funny looking animal I probably know it. My black cat has a huge body and a small head (we're working on her diet). I KNOW she looks funny so I'm not going to be offended if someone points that out.

I acutally always get...WOW, what a gorgeous looking dog. But I would get offended if they did and tell them to look in the mirror!

I do. It depends on the comment and who it's coming from that'll decide how upset I get. You love your dog, so you take it personal.
