I am just curious because I was taught that not taking care of your body and also gluttony is a sin. Overweight people are putting themselves at risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, and diabetes. You can ask for forgiveness, however you will still be sinning until you put yourself into a healthier situation by losing weight.

When I read your first line I honestly thought this would be a joke.
I am so glad I do not believe in sin. It seems that it used so much to judge others. Do you think that God would keep an overweight person out of so called "heaven". Have you not heard the phrase "It is not what is on the outside it is what is on the inside is important,> The spirit whithin you is what is important not the body you are in. We are not human beings having a human experience, we are SPIRITUAL beings having a human experience. Have you never fought with a challenge that was hard to overcome and anyway, I have a person very dear to me, who is going to have a surgical by pass because has weight has got nothing to do with what she is eating. it has nothing whatever to do with what she is or is not putting in her body. They have tested her on this and feel there is something else that is causing her weight challenge. Are you going to put her, and those like her in the category of "sinning". I am so sad , that so many of you, were taught these most negative thoughts about so many people and things. How can one judge another person like that. I feel the sin, as you so call it is coming from your end of the spectrum, not the overweight person.

Obesity is NOT the unforgiveable sin.....

You have misunderstood the issue. Sin isnt what keeps people out of heaven, as is commonly taught. Jesus Christ paid the price for all mankinds sins over two thousand years ago and wiped the slate clean. ALL sin, past, present and future was PAID FOR in FULL.

So...since the sin issue has been dealt with by God..(he DID say "it IS finished!")...then the issue at hand is one of BELIEVING in what God says He did with those sins. He says He put them OUT OF HIS SIGHT FOREVER.

If you believe that the death, burial and resurrection of Christ DID indeed take AWAY all penalty for ALL sin over ALL time for ALL people, and specifically for YOU, then you will be made into a NEW CREATION by the HOLY SPIRIT and placed INTO the Body of Christ BY GOD HIMSELF.

Without this transaction taking place, a person can be outwardly kind and nice and pleasant and good, but still go to hell. You must have the righteousness that GOD PROVIDES as a GIFT thru believing in Christs performance on your behalf, or you dont get into heaven, period.

I hope you will reconsider what the good news really IS for your salvation.

That is an extremely superficial understanding of "salvation". Should people who don't workout not be allowed in? How about people who don't use moisturizer, or maintain their tans? (or get too much sun? Which is the more virtuous?) What about people who don't apply themselves and get a better-paying job? You may not be able to take your money with you but net worth should be a qualifier on the entrance exam, eh? Too short? Too tall? Smokers? Tokers? Bad sense of fashion style? Tatoos? Wrong political party? The list goes on.

Not all fat people are fat because of poor diet or lack of exercise. Not all fat people have diabetes or cardiovascular disease. And fat people are not categorically gluttonous, selfish, lazy or self-destructive. For that matter, people who obsess about their weight and appearance are arguably more selfish than people who don't (and often less healthy).

People judge by appearance. God looks into the heart. That's why you don't get to choose who "goes to heaven". People who presume to know usually already match all of their qualifications (excluding hypocrisy).

people battle obesity for different reasons. you are assuming that fat people are all lazy gluttons shows that your judgemental spirit might prevent you before it will them. think of thyroid problems and metabolic issues and depression, and other different diseases including polycystic ovarian disease that causes a person to gain weight. losing weight does take a lot of determination and self discipline, but other health factors need to be evaluated by a physician and since some of the Christian world doesn't even believe in healing anymore, then those who suffer from the disease of obesity must rely on a health care system that cannot really be relied on. think about people and inidvidual circumstances before you ask such a heartless and ignorant question.

by the way, i had a cousin who weighed over 450 lbs due to some problems that started in her early teen life. she lived for God just fine while she was overweight. when she lost weight after undergoing gastric bypass surgery, she backslid, went bar hopping, divorced her husband and tore her family apart because she thought she was sexy. so will all the skinny seductively dressed people make it to heaven?

Somebody got ahead of me on this one... yes you must fit through the straight gate... Well first you must find it! Not everybody finds it! Jesus said THE TRUTH that of those who find it few can make it through. He used the size of the eye of a needle to make the point! So according to God the Son Jesus Christ getting into Heaven is like finding a needle in a haystack and trying to go through the eye of the needle! At the other end God will ask you, "Why should I let you in?" Oh BTW... are you hot or cold? You better be otherwise God the Son Jesus Christ will vomit you out of his Holy Stomach! Is God a neat teaser or what? Don't worry that the Bible never means what it says.

I don't know b/c every time a fat person talks about their weight gain they always say it is medical related. Big ppl have a problem admitting that they just couldn't resist that last cookie... I don't know who they think their foolin' cause every time they open the refrigerator you know who is watching. Its wrong for me to say this, but its hard maintaining my weight and can't completely understand how someone could just let them self go and become overweight... maybe some people realize that their body is only a manifestation and the real person is on the inside waiting for God's grace to take them home...

Yes I don't see why not because everyone is guilty of some sort of sin and God forgives us. I don't think he expects us to be 100% perfect because no one can be. God loves you always no matter what. I fhtat is the bigest sin you've commmited then try and fix it by at least trying it shows that you want to change and turn away from sin.

If you look at it, almost everything is a sin. And don't you think hell is where we are now? It can't get much worse after this. Everyone goes to a better place. You should do the right things for yourself, because it makes you healthier or simply because it makes you feel like a better person, regardless of where you think you'll end up.

You will go wherever you want and wherever you believe. I promise, maybe gluttony is a "sin" according to some people but I think you worrying about something that will not follow you into the heavens or wherever you believe you are going.

Everyone is a sinner. The people who won't be in Heaven are the ones who refuse to accept Christ as LORD and SAVIOR and ask for forgiveness.
