Your Doc will probably recommend Ibuprofen, since it is an anti inflammatory as well as a pain reliever, it is best to call and double check, though.

Ask the doc/dentist that prescribed the anti-biotics to either prescribe something for the pain or recommend something. A lot of times, they will prescribe something like Vicodin for the pain...but, only in a limited amount.

Cold compresses and 800mg advil an anti-inflamatory. As long as he is not allergic to anything in advil. Do not use heat. It could possibly make the swelling worse.

Best to get pain meds from denist, till then try tylenol dose depends on his age.

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT IT TAKES 2-3 DAYS FOR THE ANTIBIOTICS TO BECOME ACTIVE AND BRING DOWN THE INFECTION.
FOR THE PAIN YOU CAN GIVE HIM CHILDRE'S MOTRIN.
