For example on the nose?

it depends on the reason someone is considering it. i used to think everyone should just accept the way they looked, since the character of a person is more important than the outward appearance. but then i met a plastic surgeon who told me that it was easy for me to say that, since i was born with a nose that was ok. he had genuine compassion for his patients who were unhappy about the way they looked, and he told me about how a short operation could affect the way they felt about themselves, making them more confident and happy. it affected the way they lived their lives, their careers, etc. he was pretty good looking himself but he understood how his patients felt. i realized that i can't just judge people as vain or just unsympathetically advice them to accept themselves the way they are. "It is impossible to measure human suffering. A flat nose (or a big one, or floppy ears, etc.) may be unimportant to one individual; however, in another it can produce emotional discomfort. "

so, i would say a person has to weigh the benefits and risks and decide for himself/herself for each particular case. but always, to minimize risks, you must choose a qualified & experienced surgeon who is board certified in plastic surgery to do your surgery.

I think minor surgery such as straightening your nose is ok, but I wouldn't entirely alter the formation all together. I was born with certain features and feel that they all shape together in a way that they were meant to.

For example, I am highly self conscious in how the line inbetween both my nostrils is crooked. Too me it really off sets my face. I would love to get the cartalidge straightend, without changing the nose I was born with.

I think surgery on a nose that makes you feel bad about yourself could be fine. However I was surprised when I went to Asia and the people love my big nose. I thought it was huge and ugly they love it because they have button noise. That is even more interesting cause I love tinny noses. If the nose has a nice shape you may find it ugly to you but others may like it, if you have a loved one and she he likes it don't change it to empress others. Change is ok just consider it maybe attractive to others.

When it comes to breast and bottoms the same rules apply. Some like them small some like them big and still others like them huge. I like them all, nose are the same. If you have a broken nose I fix it but not because it is too big.

God does good work, However change is not vain nor should you feel guilty just think about your choice.

All these people that are talking about how god made you? give it a rest-god also made people with deformities and other issues so that's not saying much.

that being said, do what you want. if your nose is not exactly what you want, then change it. make yourself look better and feel better. you deserve it. like others have said, just don't turn into a freak about cosmetic surgery.

I think it is a very personal decision. I personally would never undergo any unnecessary surgery. If not medically necessary, I would not undergo it. However, this is my personal choice. I feel very strongly there are some people who undergo cosmetic surgery to build their self esteem, maybe it is not a medical necessity however it will make them feel better about themselves... However, self esteem should come from your own self worth, not your looks... It you like it I love it. God bless****

If it makes someone happier then I think it's fine.

For me, no way. I do think it takes away from people that really need health care since a lot of doctors are moving into these types of treatments because they need the money and there is high demand. But if something goes wrong then.... it's self-created because it's an unnecessary operation, treatment, etc.

If it's to correct an injury or birth defect, no problem. There are those who have breast reduction surgery to eliminate backaches - no problem. But just for purposes of vanity, THAT I have a problem with. I've seen people on tv who have had multiple procedures and they look absolutely ghastly after awhile. Some of them don't know when to quit!.

I bet it is very painful. I do not look down on anyone that has had cosmetic surgery. More power to them. Besides when I'm 50........I'll probably do it!

If you need, and you got the bucks, go for it. I wish I could. That being said, you don't want to get addicted and end up like Michael or Kenny Rogers or Wayne Newton. but there is nothing wrong with a little correction.
