By now, 2007, we have scientific answers to all things that concerned ancient tribes... we know what causes disease, we know that there is a solar system and an endless universe, and we have DNA evidence that everything on this planet is related.
Since we all go to school, and we all know the sciences that those people never could know, how do people justify their belief in a Santa-like god, and eternal life?
Do they simply put FAITH and REASON in two different baskets????

Oh, it is so much easier to be hugged in his strong arms, his "...petrochemical arms."

I suppose if you believe in a Santa Claus like deity then you would be wrong, but if you reasonably believe that the order underlying the universe suggests organization then it is only reasonable to believe in God. It is actually unreasonable for many people to believe that God does not exist since he communicates with them. Science has been very good at proving and identifying information that is observable but very little of the universe is observable and it is nothing less than complete ignorance to reach conclusions about the non-existence of deity based on the small amount of available information. Atheists other favorite argument is that the views about the past by religious people prove that all religion is false. This is essentially the same guilt by association argument used by racists that claim that all jews are greedy all blacks are stupid and all women are bad drivers. Athiesm has nothing to do with reason it has everything to do with willful ignorance and arrogance.

People believe that active parenting works even though the evidence shows this is not true. Placebos work, even though conventional knowledge says that they can't. People believe that giving a child the 'right name' is important to their success even though the evidence says that this isn't true.
The problem is that things like 'god will judge you' and 'you will die if you don't believe in god' etc are both 'conventional wisdom' and 'just in case' scenarios. Many people will believe because they are too scared not to.
Then there is the issue that some people who 'truly' believe in god DO connect with something (their inner self) but mistake it as something outside of them (god). These people are very hard to convince otherwise because they DO have knowledge of 'something better'.
You can give people freedom from dogmatic oppression but they won't take it until they have fought for it.

We do? No, we now HOW disease is caused. We dont know what causes bacteria to suddenly form, both good and bad. Otherwise we would produce it because nature works more efficiently than any synthetic product. We just now how and why. Not what. Science just explains whats happening.
"everything is related" may want to check that again as well.
Nice try though.

The fact that there is an endless universe, DNA, that all things are related. I won't even go into the oddities of Quantum physics ..all lead me to believe there is a God. I guess we just see the universe differently.

I don't put faith and reason in two different baskets as all those scientific things that have been proven true correlate with my religion.

You don't have scientific answers to any supernatural things. I am an Atheist but Atheist who claim to have Scientific answers to supernatural things are just fools.
Good Luck.

We believe in God because He exists! Science merely backs UP what the scripture has said all along.
Dont make mans intelligence your 'god', as it will always disappoint you.

What you've stated in your question doesn't disprove the existence of God. I'm not sure why faith and reason would have to be in two separate "baskets".

Science is man's explanation for what God has created. Don't feel that you could even possibly comprehend such an undertaking.
