9 out of the 10 commandments appear in the New Testament and are applicable to us today. We are NOT required to "keep the Sabbath day".

The Law given at Sinai to Israel, which included the Ten Commandments, was made only with the nation of Israel and no one else!

The Old Law, which contained the Ten Commandments, was given to keep Israel under control until Christ came. Since Christ has come and has fulfilled this Law, He has taken it out of the way. He has given us a New Law (covenant or testament). We must go to this New Law to learn how God wants us to serve Him today!

That New Law is the New Testament.

Yes as long as hey keep changing it is fine! It used to be that the day off was Saturday, now is Sunday... Praise the LORD!

It used to be that you ought to "Honour thy father and thy mother" but now Jesus changed that to "unless you hate (Greek=miseo - to abhor, hate for real) your parent and everybody else you can't be his disciple... As you can see not all the changes are for the betterment of human relations! The point is that if you love your parents and they end up in Hell you will be a sour puss in Heaven for all eternity!

The fight over displaying the 10 commandments in public places is so embarrassing that you have no idea because Chrstians hardly read the Bible and much less the Old Testament...

Even if someone doesnt believe in the penalties, they cant argue that they enjoy the benefit of the principles.

The fact that there is a criminal penalty for someone walking up in your house to rob/and or kill you is a reflection of 'thou shalt not commit murder or covet thy neighbor's property'.
They also depend on some 'fear' of lying to drive a person to tell the truth rather than lie on the stand.

relevant..yeah I'd say so.

NOT at all. The 10 Commandments were given to the Nation Israel to show them that they couldn't measure up to Gods standard by their "obedience"...thats why God set up the sacrificial system to take care of all the times they FAILED!

We are not under the law, but under GRACE.

"Christ is the end of the LAW unto righteousness to all them that BELIEVE"

The law is NOT the rule of life for we who are believers in this dispensation of GRACE. WE are ruled from within, where Christ dwells, not from "without".

No. For example, the commandment against making idols and bowing in worship to them.

What true Christian would do this?

Once Love replaces fear as your main emotion and approach to God, you will realize that the 10 commandments can be encapsulated as Jesus said: Love God, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

No, you don't need some ancient writings to make you good. By the way, have you read the context around them. Alot of penalties for breaking them is death.

You might not find them relevant today. But on judgment day, when you are judged on them by God, you will definitely find them very relevant.

According to most Christians I hear on YA, they are not under Mosaic law so the ten commandments cannot apply.
