Go to the doctor and get the spots checked immediately; they could just be lesions, which may not be skin cancer but if they've been there for that long...definitely see a doctor.

I do not want to say that he does or does not have cancer because there may be other factors but the black spots you are talking about does not sound like cancer. I think you are saying that the black spots are like a discoloration around his neck. What it looks like is like dirty patches that will not wash off. It is caused by a condition that is caused by being morbidly obese. It affects his levels of blood sugars in his body and causes insulin resistance. Many overweight people have this condition that begins in childhood. The biggest concern is that at 14, he is on his way to type two diabetes or he may already become diabetic deirectly from his weight. The condition that causes the black spots is directly connected to his weight and insulin levels. It will also cause black circles around the persons eyes which sometimes looks like sleep deprivation because thats usually what people think of when they see it. He might not want to tell you about this condition because he is embarrassed or he might not know what it is and be scared and assume its cancer himself. He needs medical intervention as there is a diet low in carbs that does help this condition. It makes the child who has it very subconscious as they feel it makes them look dirty. He will not die from it but his parents need to take him to the doctor and him get started on a diet to help prevent further insulin problems.

Could be. Your friend should have the spots checked by a doctor before the cancer spreads---if it is cancer.

Skin cancer is treatable. If he has odd looking moles or spots on his neck, he should definitely go to a dermatologist, sooner rather than later. Instead of worrying, gently express your concern to your friend of his health. Hopefully that will urge him to take care of himself and make an appointment to see a doctor about it.

*hugs*

You would need to talk to ur friend about it tell that person you are worried about them. It could be a type of skin cancer but you wont know until you talk to him.

Have a doctor come see him. You aren't in a position to diagnose cancer. Considering his size, it could be any number of things.

Have you thought about asking your friend about this. People on Y/A have no idea if your friend has cancer.

Are you sure he told her that? I'm surprised he wouldn't tell you if he's one of your best friends.

Ask him about it. It could be moles or any number of other things. I would think they would be removing them if they were cancerous.
