There is a really annoying cat who keeps forcing through our magnetic cat flap (which should only open for our cat with a magnetic collar) He is attacking our cat in the night and scaring our young child.
We have tried to scare him away, but he is not intimidated by us.
What should we do?

call the RSPCA. it's a freephone number i think. they can advise you better on this. You can find the number in the yellow pages under charities i think lol. They should come out rather quickly. if they see the cat and it does not have a collar, or they dont know who it belongs to, they will take it to be rehomed. in the mean time, wait at the cat flap with a water spray bottle and squirt its face as it comes in. it will run away and wont come back in for a while.

Hope this helps. good luck :)

Get a new cat flap with a stronger hinge. In the meantime scare him off by blasting him with a high powered water pistol.

Holy Lord! That's some scary stuff. I think you should, in preparation, keep a long stick and a spray bottle full of icy cold water at night with you. When it shows up, turn the lights on and you and your husband can head a double-pronged attack and spray and beat it out of the house. You need to give it a scary and painful experience so it learns never to return. You should also call Animal Control so they can come take a look around the house and remove it. Sheesh!! GL.

can you not lock the flap when your cat is inside? if not then get rid of the cat flap!! not sure what else you could do. or you could buy a big water pistol and fire at the pest cat when it comes in - perhaps a super soaker !!

good luck!

Is this a neighbors cat? If it is, ask for them to keep him inside at night.

This is mean, but wait outside, when you see him trying to get in, let him get part way in, paintball him (make sure you have it set down on low, you just want to scare him, not injure him)

Or set something in front of the pet door outside completely blocking it, a large container, piece of wood, spray some cat repellant around and if you are waiting for him, spray him too!

Good luck on this!!

Set the flap so it only opens outwards (by fixing a block inside the flap).

Your cat can get out, but nothing can get in.

I even have a feeling they do no longer seem to be purely on your backyard, yet in the encircling section/yards as properly. you are able to placed down as plenty rat poison as you desire, yet once you are the only one on your section doing it you will shop getting them. Rats a prolific breeders, in one 365 days 4 rats can grow to be 0.5 a million rats. they initiate as youthful as six weeks previous and have 9 to sixteen toddlers at a time (they are able to have six litters a 365 days) There could desire to be a number of rat burrows in that section, around development, in gardens, under wood piles, or close to rubbish packing containers. they'll stay very on the factor of water and nutrition components and are maximum energetic at evening. So, all of the associates could desire to call the Council Rat Catcher and have him exterminate the total section. solid luck

At least it's not a raccoon or possum or skunk, those are far worse.

Lock the cat door if at all possible, in the evening.

Either get a new pet door, or keep it closed & your cat locked inside during the night.
