A zoom is used to bring the subject closer so you don't have to move. I have no idea what you are trying to express with "...zoom really deep into a picture..." . You should always be able to focus on your subject unless you're too close. A lens does have a minimum focusing distance and it should be stated on the lens barrel and in your Owner's Manual for the lens.
