Faith is the belief in something either without evidence, or in the face of contrary evidence. Faith is the ultimate evil: the defining characteristic of our species is the ability to apply logic to evidence to draw correct and useful conclusions; faith is the deliberate rejection of that ability, and reduces one to nothing more than an animal.

Faith is an undeniable belief in something. Something you cannot be deterred from. It's hard to willingly obtain faith (by saying "oh I think that I'll gain a faith today"), but obtained through life experiences in the world around you.

Any topic you stand by on with all your heart, something you are perhaps willing to die for could be constituted as faith.

You can have faith in loved ones, in spreading a certain message, it's not exclusively religious.

Gandhi was known for his unbreakable faith not just in religion but in on violence protest, the same could be said about Martin Luther King Jr. (a man of faith in his cause.)

Being a Atheist/Nihilist doesn't omit them from having faith... some could say that their faith is stronger than those of religion because they're less easily swayed into believing in certain things

Faith is not an absolute. It's like love. How do you define or get love? When I first read your question I thought, how did I obtain faith? My faith in God has always been there. It would be like asking when did I first love my children. It's something I feel deep within my heart and soul.

Faith is a gift from God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence not seen. We are all born with a measure of faith. It takes faith to make that crawl, to take the first step. Once you began to walk after the first step, your faith is built that you can continue to take steps to keep going forward to get from one place to the next. What exactly is faith? Say you are hoping for an ipod. Your faith is an ipod. Until you actually have the ipod , faith is the substitute of the ipod.

Faith is like trust. You trust your friends and family because you know them. Faith is the trust in something you don't know. It could be GOD or a person on the street.

Like me for instance, you don't know who I am what I look like or even if I'm male or female. Faith would be believeing that what I have written is to your benefit and that I'm not trying to decieve you.

Faith is going onto the internet and asking your question hoping some stranger will have the answer you need to hear.

Faith is a gift from God, and its something we are given when we are born. Someone who has never been exposed to religion still has some type of faith...b/c they have a conscience. Faith by definition is really the belief in something u cant see...but if u look around close enough u can see miracles everyday.

Faith is believing in something even though you can't completely understand it and/or without any physical proof.

It is obtained thru belief and experiances throughout ones life.

Hebrews 11:1 (NCV) defines faith, "Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it."

Here is a devotion from my Bible, The Devotional Bible, Experiencing the Heart of Jesus by Max Lucado

"God protects and provides for people who follow him. Even though we may doubt, God's faithfulness does not waver.

Faith is a vital, life-changing, and creative power in human experience. It is belief in and intellectual assent to valid doctrine and acceptance of a sound theo-logical position. But even more, faith is an in-depth assurance, a profound certainty that God will actually do what, in the Bible, He says He will do. The promises of Holy Scripture I personally believe to be true, without any doubt whatsoever.
So the reason for my strong faith is that the Bible teaches faith. Faith has demonstrated its validity in all kinds of circumstances in my life. As I have believed and practiced faith in God and in Jesus Christ, the most wonderful things have happened: peace, joy, and victory. Moreove, other people with deep faith, known to me, have experienced, unmistakably, the power of God operating in their lives. As a result, my own faith in faith as the power of God in action has become even more certain....
The Bible tells us that by faith we can move mountains of difficulty and trouble. 'Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove: and nothing shall be impossible for you.' This means no superficial or a soft kind of faith, but instead the kind that makes and keeps us 'strong and of good courage.' It must be real, deep, positive faith. The sturdy, faith believeing, wonder-working New Testament tells us, 'I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me.' (From The Positive Power of Jesus Christ by Norman Vincent Peale)"

Faith is the will to believe without evidence, and sometimes despite evidence to the contrary.

In order to get faith, you will first need to suspend rationality.
