The questions:
"Christians- if you were presented with incontrovertable evidence that there was no God, would you become and atheist?"

and

"Atheists- If you were given incontrovertable evidence that God exists, would you become a Christian?"

Can we agree that these are both pointless trick questions mean to trap the other?
If we say no, we come across as close minded twits who can't see the truth when it's staring us in the face.
If we say yes, we come across as undecided in our beliefs.

Can we stop asking (and answering!) these questions?

I'm not asking you the question! I'm asking if we can agree that it is a stupid question! And if you're going to post it- post it in Polls and Surveys.

LOL...I think most of them are missing your bottom question. But yes, I would agree with your point.

I dont think its about proof personally....

its about the RULES.

The concept of dying and afterlife is a pretty distant 'outcome' compared to the here and now. The atheist balks at the idea of being told anything they might want to do right NOW is sinful and/or wrong. They want to do what they want to do (and live by their own standards or lack thereof)and the only way to DO that without feeling condemnation is to deny the GOD associated with the RULES. Their only comeback for the Christian who voluntarily submits to the 'rules' and purposes to change their life is to say "you're just afraid of going to (a) hell".

Proof is not the point...

There can exist no "incontrovertible evidence" that a god exists because the concept is logically impossible, much like a "three sided square". No one would "hold out" for evidence of such a thing because they know full well that such a contradictory, nonsensical thing couldn't possibly exist.

No, I can't agree. I WANT people to become undecided in their faith. I want them to see that their faith is unremarkable in comparison to other faiths and that it's totally irrational.

a million. contained in the call of ... skill to do with with the authority and in accordance to the favor of Christ or Atheism. What undesirable component has been finished in accordance to the preparation of "You shall love your neighbor as your self, turn the different cheek, evaluate others more desirable than your self, and many more desirable?" How about, do even with you want considering there is not an wonderful accounting on your deeds? 2. For an atheist to truly trust that there is not any GOD, he or she could ought to seek out each and every nook and cranny of each and every of the universe and all dimensions earlier he and he or she will actual easily say that there is not any God. in the different case they're going to be taking it by using religion that God would not exist. For me to trust that there's a God, I purely ought to trust that if something exists now, something has to have perpetually existed. From not something comes not something because the old Bard stated. 3. No enormous difference between christians and atheists? you need to be comparing "in call purely christians" with atheists. If a Christian would not produce Christ-like fruit, he/she is not any Christian..."You shall understand a tree by using it truly is fruit" is what Jesus says. 4. sturdy human beings on both aspect? no individual yet God is sturdy says Christ. And what subjective popular is the atheist measuring goodness by using considering there is not any wonderful popular in accordance to their beliefs? 5. the reality is an offense. do not choose Christianity by using its so said as followers. choose it by using its founder and His teachings.

Of course these are both pointless trick questions that are meant to trap the other? Certainly my atheist brothers and sisters here are to intelligent to fall for it. I would hope the same is true for my Christian brothers and sisters.

Atheists aren't undecided in their beliefs, though. What we have decided is that all beliefs are silly. I'm happy to say I'd 'believe' in god if he was kind enough to provide proof, just as I'd believe in the tooth fairy if there was evidence she was real. I think the chance is about equal for both.

I would never bother with those. I try for convoluted logic bombs. Things like, "Are atheists happy that God made them like that?"
Most of the time I don't get them right, but when they work they are wonderful.

Would I become a Christian? No, I would rather be sent to hell.

I doubt both sides would find a compromise when it comes to religious beliefs or lack there of. Not via a Internet forum.

If we consider ourselves Christians, Jesus only left us with two suggestions for dealing with Atheists.

First He ask us not to judge them.

Secondly He ask us to love our neighbor.

Atheists are our neighbors.

End of discussion.
