Why do they bother to repeatedly confirm to themselves and other atheists of their "conviction" by interrepting aspects of religion from a point of view which is only relevant to their way of thinking and without making the effort to allow space for any other possibility.

Ego. Many here, especially, think they are "right."

Being right is something that the ego holds onto. It is the hardest aspect to let go of. This isn't solely a Atheist thing, but almost everyone

Hmm. I'm not sure that I have ever heard of an evangelical atheist, but you have found some? You get the irony here?

But anyway, you contradict yourself. You say atheists are converting others, but then you say they repeatedly confirm to themselves and others. Just confirm which it is that you think they do, please?

The rest of your sentence just emphasises your confusion. Most atheists do not go upon their conviction: they base their view upon evidence. In this way they are allowing for any possibility that the evidence supports. That means they have an open mind. They are not working from a set point of view.

However, I could easily get the impression that that is what you do. A faith position admits only of what the believer takes upon faith. Ignoring the evidence. That is a closed mind.

The way you pose your question demonstrates why atheists often cannot take believers seriously. You do not make sense.

I really dont know why I bother responding to questions like these, because I know you will not listen to anything we say, but Ill waste my efforts regardless...

1) Atheism is not a religion. That pretty much makes the rest of your rant a moot point.

2) Im not obsessed with anything.

3) I want nothing more than for you to continue practicing whatever religion it is that makes you happy. Thing is, I EXPECT you to give the same damn respect to all others, including gays, atheists, muslims, jews and all others. Yet, you refuse to and instead judge all others - against the advice of your own religion.

4) There is no need for us to interpret anything. WE take the Bible at face value - it is YOU people that try to bend, twist and shape it so that it fits with current scientific understanding.

I am an atheist, and I am not obsessed with de-converting (for we all start life without beliefs in anything, much less gods) anyone to atheism.

Furthermore, atheism is the disbelief in gods. It is not a "religion" which by default means a belief in god/s.

When questionned, I provide an answer with my interpretation. There is nothing wrong with this.

Do christians provide other ways of thinking? Do they make the effort to allow space for any other possibility than what they believe?

I find most atheists to be more open-minded than god-believers in general.

Hmm, your own argument seems to work just fine for christians... and muslims, buddhists, jews, etc.

to regulate from one perception to a special is replacing, to make your techniques up on to disbelieve that which others could have you ever trust isn't a conversion yet a decision by using the guy now to not trust. i in my opinion don't have any topics with those who opt for to save on with a faith as long as they do it in understanding and by no skill in lack of expertise. it truly is my journey that maximum Theists have little or no understanding not purely about what they honestly trust because it changed into dictated to them by using adult adult males yet of alternative concepts and good judgment's that exist.

Being an atheist is NOT a religion....it is only a belief system...There is a big difference. And only a question that has never been answered properly will ever know the truth.

Probably because some people unwittingly allow their faith to compromise their decision, i.e. at the ballot box. Sometimes taking the faith glasses off lets you see life from a different perspective, one less bound on being told what is going on and more about allowing you to decide what it is you see before you.

I am so sick of seeing this, this whole country is forcing its mostly christian views on us, we are simply stating our opinion, I have yet to see an atheist tell a christian if they don't join us they will burn in hell, Ive never been woken up by an atheist knocking on mu door trying to convert me, Ive never been walking threw the mall and been asked to be saved by an atheist, you people are so full of yourselves, and blind to your own uneducated believes that make no sense

you mean like Christianity or any other religious organisation?

I dont have a religion, I am an Atheist, what I am doing is trying to get YOU to open your mind and emacipate yourself from religious subjugation. I fear for my felow man, that you are being maniulated into believe doctrine that is false and just a tool to imprison your mind.
