18 months for my first daughter, 22 months for my second daughter. Sorry to say, with both of them, 2 was much easier than 3 was. Reasoning with him, talking to him might help ease the tantrums, but they wont go away. A 2 year old is capable of understanding more than we give them credit for. If you try to take no out of your vocabulary, it will show him how to better handle things. Instead of no, you cant have that say how about this or that instead? Good luck, it is difficult, but as he is able to express himself and get you to understand him, it will get better.

As a psychology major i must tell you there is no such thing as the "terrible twos" that is such a bad name. It should be called the "wonderful twos" because at this stage the child realises his/her world surroundings. The have reached a sense of autonomy and they have realise the impact they have on this world. Sure he is going to say no, and scream, cry, touch things you keep telling him not , but the child does this to test your reaction and the consequences for their actions. Be careful of how you act towards his/her new self discovery, negative and punishment leads to shame and doubt and the child will become timid. And yes around 18 months the chaos starts until the child reaches 4yrs of age and when he interacts with other infants.

um at about 18 months and she will be 3 next month and shows no sign of letting up on this phase - I really don't think the terrible two's should be the one they "advertise" it should be the "throwing tantrums three's" parents should be worried about..... Good Luck!!!

The day before her 3rd birthday. It was like a switch was flippled from amazingly good kid to monster. She has gotten a little better in the last year and a half but still has days she likes to test me. Ahh, the joys of motherhood. :)

My twins just turned two in August. They haven't started it yet, but I have seen some hints of it. It will probably start in February, when their twins siblings are born!!
