Are you wondering if you are supposed to give money to every single person who asks for it? I would say a bigtime no. Think about it. If that were true then there would be tons of people outside asking for money. You would be broke before you even made a block.

You do not have to give money to a person just because that person asks for it. Yes, there are some people out there who probably need it. However, there are too many that do not need it. There are programs to help people out. If you really want to help out beggers, then volunteer your time with various organizations to help feed or clothe these people or to possibly help them start a new life. You will not be turned away if you show up wanting to help these organizations. You can also give money to these organizations as well. Make sure and do a bit of research on them to make sure that they are actually using the money to help the homeless and not just giving themselves big salaries.

I don't know the exact quote but I did think there was a part where it said something like: "you have not fed me, clothed me, you have not visited me, ..." it goes on for a bit more, but I forget, and I haven't got a bible near to check. Anyway the people "accused" of this replied: "But Lord, when did we see you in need of food or clothes or in jail?"
The Lord replies: "As you have done onto the least of my people, you've done onto me"

According to that passage, yes it would be a sin to walk past a begger, but then again I've known beggars whom I'd try giving some left-over food that would have ended up in the trash otherwise since I had had enough, and they threw it back demanding money (which at the time I didn't have). When that happened, I walked away. I'm quite sure if I had given him money, it wouldn't have been used for food but for liquor, and I'm not sponsoring anyone's alcohol addiction. Is that a sin? I don't know. What about if I don't have any money at hand myself and they keep hassling me to give them something, what should I do then?

It's a different matter if they do something to make money (like, say, play music or sth), if I have anything myself I will give some, but I'm not about to starve myself for a beggar who's asleep with a bottle in hand and a note asking for money by his cap - if he didn't spend the money he had on drinks, he wouldn't need to beg money for food.

He that knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin.

Don't give money to a begger in a developed country and leave. Point them to programs made to help. Now in bible times beggars had one foot, blindness, leprosy or something.

Today strong bodies beggars are saying "I don't like that kind of work".

A woman washed the feet and hair of Jesus in perfumes and oils. Judas the Siccari (Iscarit) questioned him on this and asked how wasting precious resources like this was compatible with charity.

Christ responded "There will always be poor"

Christ would walk along the road, and be accosted by beggars. Though he never berated them, he did walk by. Some were healed just by touching his robe.

It is not a sin to walk by a beggar. It is a sin to not pray for that beggar, to not wish for the best for them, or to berate them.

All sin is sin. No undesirable could have reliable in it even nonetheless it ought to be used to supply reliable and this assertion is likewise authentic vice versa. ranges or levels of sin are a human concept and as a rule we fail to tell apart between individual selection and widely used suggestions of morality. maximum subjects are arguable and could no longer be judged the two way. Foresight or prevention even nonetheless is often the greater valuable stance.

I don't know that it says anything specific, however in the story of the Good Samaritan we are told to help our neighbors and the people who walked by the man who was hurt were considered to be wrong.

Also, Jesus said he will separate the sheep from the wolves....

read Matthew 25: 31-46 Here Jesus separates people into two sides....He tells one side "Come enter into your reward because I was hungry and you fed me, sick and you cared for me, in jail and you visited me, naked and you clothed me, thirsty and you gave me drink."

The people asked "Lord when did we ever see You in need and help you?"

Jesus said "When you helped the least of your brothers, you helped Me."

He turned to those on his other side and told them to go to their punishment because they had failed to do those things. They also asked when they had ever seen the Lord and refused to help. He answered "When you did not help the least of these...you did not help Me."

Then He sends them off to hell.

This is why I am a democrat, while I disagree with abortion, I feel the republican party falls short of this message and hides behind abortion to make it ok.

When Jesus said the poor you will always have with you. He said it in response to Judas taking the woman to task for spending money on Jesus when the oil could have been sold for the poor.

He meant, that taking time to worship and glorify the Lord is also important. He was also rebuking Judas for pretending to care about the poor, because at that point he had already decided to betray Jesus and the Lord knew that.

He didn't mean not to help the poor.

I would like to see a time in the Bible where Jesus ever refused to help anyone who called on Him. Even when he was tired and grieving the loss of his cousin, He helped those who followed Him.

This doesn't mean you have to give money to everyone who asks for it (the Bible also says if a man should eat, he should work), but you should do your part somehow, somewhere in accordance to the riches and talents the Lord has given you.

James 2:15-17
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

it does in the parable about the rich man and the beggar. rich man has everything and ignores the poor man outside his door. when they both die he's begging for help but God tells him TS he had his chance to save himself helping the poor man ( now in heaven) while he was alive.
