You make it sound like a race is a third world country or something. If you go to a race in your area, your neighbors are likely there. I would recommend the same shots you get before you go to their houses to visit.

Did anyone actually listen to the whole report and who and why they were asked to get immunizations?
Sounds like most of you heard the "Teaser" and then tuned out the rest of the story.
So here it is. Several Congressmen where to observe "First Responders" at a major sporting event. They were to visit several area hospitals, emergency rooms, etc. Along with observations at the actual event.
They were asked to get immunized against common infectious diseases that most "First Responders" and medical health care professionals are typically immunized for. Such as Hepatitis, Cholera, TB, and others.
It had nothing to do with NASCAR, other than it was a race that they attended.
Some got the shots and some didn't, It was their choice. They were not forced to get the shots.
They are only needed for workers that would likely come in contact with blood or other bodily fluids in the course of their work.

The report said that crew members.. etc anyone who comes in close contact with some one during an emergency situation. Just like police, doctors, nurses etc. get vaccines to prevent getting infected. Which is a very good idea. There are a lot of people out there with who knows what... the peopel trying to save them are putting their lives on the line too. They didn't say the fans should get the shots.

i find it to be a slap in the face to me, the fans, and every nascar driver and those associated with Nascar. if they do if for nascar events, then they need to do that for baseball, football, and any other sporting event.

Yes, but it isn't mandatory that you have them. And the reps.
were from Washington, not NASCAR. There have been
no breakouts of any disease at any NASCAR event, so
you should be pretty safe. But that doesn't mean that the
shots arn't a good idea, even if you don't go to a race.
