I live in carmichael ca, and recently this week a close friend of mine was shot in the head during a robbery in an apartment complex in carmichael. He was 20 years old. I am worrying about his soul. I have proof in my heart and things that have happened to me that I TRUELY belive in life after death. I happen to believe in the catholic religion. He was almost the perfect person. He was so unselfish and non-materilistic and would give you money if you had none even tho he didnt have enough money to pay his rent. He would walk old ladys across the street. He was also VERY forgiving he never wanted to be in an arguement and he loved everyone. He always introduced himself to strangers. He was all about justice and was in the process of being a sheriff and alwasy wanted to be a hero a savior. But he was agnostic. He was open to the idea of god but he would just say I dont know. He would listen to what we had to say but was not sure if he believed it. I do know he believed more and more each

Day but I am so worried that such a great person who was so good whose life got taken away from him so selfishly will have to endure an eternity in hell. I want to know if there is still a way he may be aloud to enter heaven. As far as purgatory is concerened is for the slightly imperfect souls which go there to be purified to enter heaven. Could he be concidering his circumstances be able to have a chance to except god in purgatory and have his soul be purified to the enter heaven. We have been praying so much for his soul. I know he didn’t flat out deny the lord but I know he did question it. But if the lord loves all could give him the chance. I want to know. Thank You.

First, I want to say how very sorry I am for the loss of your friend and what sounds like, a very fine person! We need more people such as this...not less!
Hun, noone can answer this question, HONESTLY, as only God and your friend know this! You've got to have faith, in the fact, that," no man knows another man's heart." Only God, truly knew this dear friends heart and can make that judgement.
It sounds as though your friend was a very special person, indeed! We do not know truly, where that preciuos heart stood, in reality, to God. Sometimes, what people say and what they really mean...can be blurred! So, let's give this to God and ask Him to give you peace. If he "was open to God" ....then there is our hope for his eternal life, in the presence of God! Hold onto that hope and your faith but, let go of the what if's as they belong to God!
I am praying for you to surrender this heaviness, of the heart, to God. Losses, in our lives....can be devastating and therefore, I am praying for your pain to be replaced by God's peace.
May the Peace of Our Lord be with You!

From a Buddhist perspective, he lived a good life and, providing he did no harm, will most likely be reborn in a positive life. Whether he goes to Heaven, by Catholic belief, is unknown. In Buddhism, a good rebirth stems from a good life which is always accomplished with a clear mind (read: guilt free, worry free).
Belief isn't a requirement for death, we all do. As long as he lead a good life, and it sounds as if he did, don't worry. In Buddhism, worrying is actually negative towards the dying. Let him go and wish him well on his journey through death onto life or heaven/Nirvana.

You need to understand that God and Jesus did not choose people that did good works, good deeds, was kind, honest or religious leaders. They choose people that murdered, theives and con artist, that had faith and obedient in God, that is all what God is asking for. That is the problem with the world today is that they have their own opinion on what God thinks or does and they do not learn about him.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR HIM?
God is not a genie in a bottle, he waiting for you to follow him, not what you want. He knows your needs and wants but seek him first and those things that you need will follow.
DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)

I cannot answer your question for sure. That's between him and God. But I do know that God doesn't want ANYONE to go to hell. He loves all men no matter what they do and He wants them to join Him to live in eternal happiness in heaven. That doesn't mean that no one goes to hell though. The souls who have turned away from God and die unrepentant will go there.
From what you have said about your friend though he sounds like a truly good man and I'll pray that God has mercy on him. I'm sure that you are praying for him too - keep it up. The power of prayer is incredible. Have Masses said for his soul if you can, and ask other people to pray for him too. I'm going to Mass tonight and I'll pray for him there.
God bless you. I'll be praying for you too.

Not if you believe the Christian bible. He is an unbeliever and unbelievers who die not accepting Jesus as their Savior will not be saved. No amount of praying for the dead is going to change that. I'm sorry. When someone tells you, you can do that...ask them to show the scripture that says that.... You do not go to Heaven because you a good person or do great deeds of charity like Mother Teresa...you go to Heaven because you accept Jesus as your Savior..you don't get there by good works.
John 3:18
New American Standard Bible (©1995)
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Romans 10:9-13.
9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved . 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Everyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Well, i do feel that it is unnecessary to say "hell" in most situations..AND ALL of us Americans do not do it. Its very generalizing. I am American and we are not ALL about John Wayne. That was a long time ago and not in this generation. We do not all ride horses and shoot bow and arrow. That is an old stereo type of Americans. Its sort of saying all Brits have bad teeth..NOT all Brits have bad teeth.. I suppose a small population does..but not ALL.

I am afraid to tell you from what I am hearing he is not going to be in Heaven and since I don't believe in Purgatory than there is only one other option. Unfortunately if he has not acknowledged he believed in Christ and accepted him as his saviour then he will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven

I am an athiest/agnostic but I will answer your question in terms of religious philosophy and beliefs.
does the catholic religon say he will?
Yes
therefore either he will and the world is unfair and god doesn't care about good and evil or right and wrong, but only demands blind faith.
OR you seriously need to re-examine your thoughts as to whether or not a god such as this that would send a good person to hell deserves to be worshipped.
basically you have two choices now. The hard one, which is also the morally correct one which means turning against your religion and doing the right thing.
or the easy one, which would be to buckle under and allow this kind of injustice continue and condemn a good person to hell not for his actions, but for his thoughts.

God does take into consideration what circumstance each person was born into. (Psalms 87:6) He is the only one who reads each man's heart. (Hebrews 4:12) Depending on what each person had knowledge of...God will judge accordingly. (Luke 12:48)
I will pray for God to give you peace.

So sorry about you loosing your friend!
First of all there is no purgatory. This is a R. Catholic concept and not biblical. When Jesus died on the cross he said, 'it is finished". No more need for anyone who believes to suffer for their sins, he paid the price.
For your friend. Only God knows his heart and no one else can judge if he is saved from hell. Pray for him. You don't know what went through his mind before he was shot.
God bless,
