You can imitate a singing style OK. But you're main goal should be to stand out, so you should concentrate on developing a singing style that is unique. There are plenty of incredible singers that don't register on the charts, if you look closely you will see that technically unskilled singers have achieved success because they had memorable voices. Technique is important, but it has to be applied to your own unique style. Try using original material that you or someone else has written or mine old songs and try to update the sound. This will force you to create your own melodies and will get you trying new things. You need to work on dynamics as well, find a place where you can let loose and practice pushing your voice. But most importantly try to find a band/producer making original music and get collaborating with them!

You asked this question yesterday, and I didn't answer then because you said not to say anything like voice lessons or coach. So I have nothing else to respond.

Honey helps. Also cut down on sugary drinks and dairy. Drink lots of UNSWEET green tea. Practice alot. Record yourself, point out your faults and work really hard on them.
