My neighbors have two chihuahuas and they crap in my yard always. I just finished picking up 20 of their smelly craps. I'm tired of it and the smell is horrible. What can I do? Talking to the neighbors is not goint to work. My mom has, several times, tried to give them a hint about the problem by scooping up the poop and puting it on their yard, but it only worked for a while.

if all else fails and the owners don't care ( as mine don't) i will pick up the poop and put it on their door step. that seems to work. i know it is rude, but it is also rude to let your dogs crap all over someone esles property. especially when you have asked nicely.

Are the dogs allowed to run loose? Or does the owner of the dogs keep them leashed and let them poop in your yard? If the dogs run loose there are leash laws and you can call the city on him/her. I would try if you can to document when the dogs do their business and if you can video or write it down.. Was the owner there in sight, were the dogs on a leash? Etc... I would try to appeal to the owner again just to be a good neighbor but, if that fails next time you see the little dogs squirt them with your hose to get them off the property... Also document talking with the neighbor and his/her reaction. Also talk to other neighbors that may have the same problem. Good luck

If you have a nuisance animal law or a leash law in your city call the police or animal control the next time the dogs are there.

If that doesnt work get a wire cage with a big open door. Set a dish inside, propped so that it will shut the door when the dogs go in to eat. Once they're in there call the proper authorities to report "stray dogs" in your yard.

If nothing else, drop the poop onto their doorstep as close as possible to the door used most often - that might help get the point across.

Are the dogs running aound off their leash? Because I'm from Ontario, Canada...and there are by-laws in certain city's that require animals to be leashed. You can contact your local vet or humane society and ask them...especially if you've already talked to your neighbour. Once you have found out that there is a by-law. Ask them what you should do about your problem. You can then write your neighbour a letter with your concern and quote the by-law. If that doesn't work...I think they can be charged for not watching their dogs..or leaving them on a leash. That is your lawn and your property...what if you had children??..and they wanted to play in your yard...not right. I love animals but this is a concern of health. Good Luck!!

Lawn and garden stores and home stores (i.e. Home Depot and Lowes) sell dog repellant products. You might also want to check out the garden department of Walmart, Kmart, etc. These products have an odor that dogs find offensive and they will avoid the area.

Maybe your neighbors would get the hint if you posted a "No Dogs" sign. Another alternative, there's an old saying that goes, "Fences make good neighbors." Expensive but it might be the answer.

If there is a leash law you could get a small animal trap(non-lethal kind) and put some hamburger in it. When the little guys go in there then you could call animal control and give them the dogs. This would be a last resort but you have the right to do so on your property. I guess you could charge them with vandalism of your property.

If putting the poop on their porch doesn't work, try wrapping it up in a nice package with a bow and leaving it on their front porch.

You could also leave small amounts of burger in your yard with exlax in it. Just don't put too much since the dogs are so little. This will provide a nice suprise for them when they return from work

Dogs have an incredible sense of smell. I think that if you maybe sprayed some vinegar or other strong smelling liquid, that is harmless to animals, around the perimeter of your property, that they may stay away for a while. Ammonia that is diluted, would also probably keep the dogs and the neighbors away too. Both are naturally strong odorous products, and both quite inexpensive. Maybe some strong ground pepper would work too. Good luck. Rob.

Try to talk to them again, and if that doesn't work shoo the dogs the next time you see them, or throw the poop in their lawn. If you yell at the dogs everytime they come into your yard, eventually they'll get the message and poop in their own lawn. If worse comes to worst, just put up a fence. Or better yet, get an electric one! Hehheheheee!

She should not have to put a fence up. The next time I see them crapping in my yard I would call the police..there are leash laws. I have been outside before and someone walking there dog along the sidewalk in front of my house...they let their dog take a crap right there...right in front of me. Needless to say I went off (because thety started to walk on) and they picked it up and took it with them..Morons

If they love their dogs, here a kinda offhand way to solve the problem.

Tell them (the neighbors) that you just treated your lawn for pests. If you want a name of a good product that is very dangerous to animals, Triazicide is one. Tell them the label says keep all animals away from where the product was spayed, and you sprayed it pretty much everywhere (a full yard treament) and they are going to have to keep their dogs chained up, (preferrably walk them) because if they venture into your yard it could cause them to seizure.

Oh, if you really want to put the scare in them, tell them you are supposed to dilute it, (cause you are) and you used it straight. It is deadly to animals then. I made this mistake onmy lawn. Using it straight. I had to keep my own dog on a leash for weeks, and he never strays from the yard.

File a complaint with your local police department for trespassing and destruction of property against the dogs whick defaults onto the owners of the dog. Then you go to the animal shelter in yoru area and file a complaint about the dogs being off the leashes and coming into your property.
