Santa claus for example encorages obesity.
it also violates one of your "seven deadly sins" namely gluttony and sloth.
how do you think santa got that way, certainly not by getting off his duff and working out and eating properly.
nooooo too many twinkies, hot cocoa and cookies.
so if santa represents diabetes, heart disease and stomach cancer, and you promote him then realize that you are telling kids its ok to get diabetes, stomach cancer and heart disease.
AND that bieng lazy is ok.
the elves do all the work and he reaps the rewards and pay. the raindeer bust thier butts and get nothing.

I'm debating why christianity won't change santa's image.
they are encouraging children to be lazy and fat.

this is only a slap in the face to christians because its in the R&S section.
I happily apply this to the fat/jovial image that is associated with happyness in american culture.

Good points and I hope your not being "too" serious and let me just start by saying that I am not a christian, but I have respect for the christian faith as I do all faiths. We all have "negative" aspects of our religious beliefs, some are just more "identifiable" than others. Like when I tell people I'm a witch they are all like *gasp* screw that fact that she has a college degree and a good job and functions in society...Oh no not that ...she must ride brooms, kill children and have a green face..see what I mean?

Your question is unfortunately a non sequitur. The 2 parts of it don't fit together.
Christians don't neccessarily advocate Santa claus because there is so much wrong with this notion. Christmas is about Jesus and anyone else like Santa takes away from what the day and season are about.
One thing that you need to do is have a look at the history of Santa Claus and who put the image together of Santa that we see now. Was it a Christian organization? What did Santa look like before that? He was skinny and in a blue suit of clothes.

I am a christian and my mom and dad have never told me and my sister about Santa or any other thing like that we also do not do any thing with Halloween.
But i think the re son we have never done Santa is because my parents where like why lie to are kids then hurt theme when they are older because there really is no fat guy with flying rain deer in the sky that brings me toys every Christmas!?
all So Santa has NOTHING TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS that is the MANE re son we don't do it!
CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS

I see. You don't think we should love fat people just because they're fat...
Christians don't have "7 deadly sins". ("Greek monastic theologian Evagrius of Pontus first drew up a list of eight offenses and wicked human passions:. They were, in order of increasing seriousness: gluttony, lust, avarice, sadness, anger, acedia, vainglory, and pride. Evagrius saw the escalating severity as representing increasing fixation with the self, with pride as the most egregious of the sins.")
If all Santa Clause represented were the diseases you mentioned then he wouldn't be a role model, would he? Do you hear Christians talking about how great a role model Adam was? Or Lucifer?
AND TO OLIVER CROMWELL: No, the Bible says we should not WORSHIP idols or graven images. Nobody I know worships Santa Claus. Except maybe those people over at Mattel.

The current image of Santa claus dates back to the 1860's a time when being overweight was not related to being unhealthy and things like diabetes and heart disease was not even slightly
understood. Also the Idea of st. nicholas did not take long to branch out from being a christian idea alone. and the reindeer and elves and northpole junk were just parts of storys to appeal to the imagination of little children. if you wanna ask a better Anti
christian question ask them how many of there biblical story's were spawned from pre bible religions.

What a dope! If you listen to Christians you would be aware that most are trying to figure out ways to celebrate a traditional Christmas without focusing on Santa. Santa causes kids to lose focus on what Christmas really celebrates; the birth of Christ. Sorry, no Icons in this household.

i'm Pagan married to a Deist and our families are Christian. In my abode we rejoice yuletide... I do extra of the religious stuff than my hub or my 19 year previous son does. however the nutrition and memories, etc... are all carried out mutually. On Christmas Eve (yuletide is 12 days long), we bypass to my mothers and dads abode the place we rejoice Christmas. although they're Christians, they are actually not overly religious/fundies... and frequently stick a tremendously secular "social gathering" with the conventional Christmas memories, the nutrition, the CHOCOLATE!!! oops, sorry... I even have under no circumstances pushed my ideals on absolutely everyone. Even whilst watching/celebrating Pagan holiday journeys, I in basic terms bypass as far as a results of fact the the remainder of the kinfolk is keen to bypass and the rest I do on my own (ritual, etc...) although, that truly isn't lots of a project in my abode, when you consider that my son is likewise Pagan and my husband enjoys studying approximately those issues... he basically does not participate. =) it would be complicated to describe that to a 5 year previous. i did not could do any deep motives till at last my youngster became very almost 11. So i will't provide any suggestion on that as i'm uncertain the thank you to describe it to a 5 year previous. No, you may not request excused absence for Wiccan Holildays. there is truly in basic terms one "Christian" holiday babies get off and that falls interior of their wintry climate ruin. that's basically something you will could artwork around or in line with threat evaluate homeschool.

Hahaha. That was good. If you really do your research on the roots of ''christmas'' you'd learn that it is a pagan holiday. Another thing, Jesus wasnt born in december. Im a JW and we have nothing to do with that christmas, easter, Halloween, and other so called christian holidays that other christians celebrate.
Ha, its funny how if you re-arrange the letters of ''santa'' you get ''satan'' ha

???? Santa Claus has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. Christmas, to Christians, is celebrating the birth of Jesus.
