Should the US abolish the legislation that allows any child born on US soil to be an American Citizen? If so, should the regulation state that at least one parent must be a citizen in order to have their child be considered a citizen? Just curious about the responses to this question.

The 14th Amendment has been abused by Pro-Illegal Alien Advocates. The Amendment was meant for Slaves and not for Anchor Babies to bring over 265 "relatives."

Hopefully, Congress will finally eliminate the Anchor Baby Loophole.

i'm no longer shocked at this question coming from a individual who thinks Secretary Rice is a "sell out", this is that mentality that keeps black human beings from reaching their potential, A black female as Secretary of State and you cant be happy?..wow...besides, Your question is particularly biased once you attempt to rigidity human beings right into a theory that persons on welfare are there for "3 generations", as a consequence of your bias your question has lost a outstanding quantity of credibility. that having been stated, i does no longer desire a individual who's sole purpose grow to be to apply her new child as a gadget for her very own benefit(very resembling the female who had the anchor toddler does). this is a thoroughly irresponsible act of a mom to try this variety of factor. this is egocentric and devious.

The US is only one of about a dozen countries that still gives a child full citizenship at birth regardless of the immigration status of his parents.

The US should maybe consider Frances's immigration laws.
A child born in France to foreign parents do not automatically get French citizenship.
He can, however, petition for French citizenship at 18 if France has been his home and he has lived in France at least 5 years between the ages of 11 and 18.

I have to say, I don't really agree that anyone born on U.S. soil should be considered an American citizen. I do think they should be entitled to some things - education, for example. I do think that is an interesting idea - to require that at least one parent must be a citizen in order to consider their child a citizen. I don't like the term "anchor babies", however. Its not nice to stereotype people with names like that.

Yes, the U.S. should abolish anchor baby citizen status. Illegal immigration/invasion is ruining this country.

I think that the children of illegals should not be granted automatic citizenship. This policy has hurt our nation tremulously.

I do not have a problem with automatic citizenship ""IF"" the parents are here legally and are working towards citizenship for themselves.

well, i think the idea used to be sort of romantic and cool....forever claiming the place of your birth and all that stuff. but now, yeah...it's being abused. i totally support the idea that one parent must be a US citizen.

So now even children being born and raised in America aren't American enough for you??? This has now gone beyond the illegal immigrant stand point and into racism. You now hate the American child because of what? His features? His parents mistakes? His different culture? This baby, child, and eventually adult is not illegal-so what is your excuse for disliking him?

If my father was a murderer should I be sent to prison upon birth? What about my children's children?

How many generations have to pass before someone is considered "American Enough" for you?

No, anyone born in the United States should be an American Citizen. Services should be provided for the child, and if his or her parents are illegal immigrants, then if their parents are returned to their country of origin, the child should be permitted to stay in the United States and either be adopted or placed in foster care or a group home. When the children are of the age where they can sponsor their parents to return to the US legally, then they would have the option to take the necessary steps.
Requiring that a parent be a US citizen is against everything our country was built upon. Requiring that one parent be a legal immigrant, whether or not a citizen, is a little more reasonable. But punishing a child, especially a newborn who has no decision-making capabilities, for the errors of his/her parents is wrong. Any child born in the United States should be a US citizen.

Uh oh...Yahoo doesn't like you to say the AB words....some of these illegal lovers are going to report you, but YES, the US should amend the constitution. That particular amendment no longer serves it's intended purpose.
