Abraham lived with his father in the land of Ur, at first. Then he married Sarah, his half-sister. Lot was in Sodom when God decided to destroy Sodom & Gomorroh. It was Lot's wife that turned to salt. Abraham tried to convince God not to destroy the two towns/cities.

According to Genesis account Abraham's family came from Ur in southern Iraq (Babylonia or some other state then). They then went to Haran in Syria for some time. Then Abraham travelled south to Canaan with his household including Sarai and his nephew Lot.
He then wandered around Canaan for some time, spending time in the Negev to its south for a while, and spending some time in Egypt, and then returning to Canaan again with much riches.
He and Lot both had big herds and followers so decided to split so they wouldn't have any rivalry issues. Lot moved east into the Jordan valley, and into the south where the Dead Sea is. According to the Genesis account there were some major settlements there (tar production perhaps). Abraham remained in the Judaean highlands (thats the later name for the uplands between the Mediterranean and the Dead sea derived from the name of his great-grandson Judah.)

Before going to Canaan, Abraham and his family live in Ur Kasdim, which is in present day Iraq.
When Lot split from Abraham, he went to live in Sodom, which is on the banks of what is now the Dead Sea.

Lemme go look...brb
To start Abraham was a native of the Chaldean city of Ur.
Located in the land of Shinar,
near the present junction of the Euphrates & Tigris rivers.
While living there,
Jehovah commanded him to
take up residence in a strange land; Haran.
Lot moved w/ him to Haran.
I don't know about Lot being angry w/ Abraham, " ?? "
The time became necessary,
bc of the increasing sizes of their
flocks & herds for them to seperate.
Lot selected the basin of the lower Jordan,
a well-watered region "like the garden of Jehovah,"
and later established his camp near Sodom.------
Gen 13:5-13.
