Nope. Lack of parenting, as well as bullying. Example: The kid in PA that had an arsenal, his felon father tried to buy him a gun in 2005 & his mother bought him 3 of his weapons a .22-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle. His actions are definately from horrible parenting, not lack of religion. I am an Atheist & I have morals & ethics, it's common sense of what is right & wrong, nothing to do with dogma. If you have to have a deity to tell what you should do regarding morals, you are in pretty bad shape & quite possibly in need of therapy.

No the shootings were due to a lack of back bone. We are taught to cater to bullies and give them their way. NEVER blame anything like this on the bullies. We need to start teaching our children to stand up for themselves and teach them that it is ok to defend themselves. We also need to drop all the stupid "no gun zones" they obviously aren't working because the only people who honor that are the repsonsible people. Before schools became No Gun Zones these things did not happen. I am not by any means saying that 8 year olds should be packing heat, but the faculty should be allowed to. When someone walks in and threatens a school room full of children, if the teacher pulled out their concealed weapon and took out the shooter first, then these things would stop happening.
For the most part these are incidents of poor parenting (not always) on the part of the SHOOTERS parents, bleeding heart judges who allow violent criminals to keep going free and never hold them accountable for their crimes, and Heaven forbid I say this - but the choice of the SHOOTER. The SHOOTER is the person responsible- he is the one who did it, he is the one who chose to. The others who are responsible are any others involved in the planning.
Please give credit where credit is due- The shooter is the one responsible.

I think it is due to a lack of a moral compass, not necessarily "religion". Muslims are some of the most religious people in the world, but they would probably have praised this "infidel" for killing other non-muslims. Islam doesn't have a "10 Commandments" for moral living.

I think that the gun laws in USA may have had something to do with it. There was a report on the UK news this morning about an American kid who had a bedroom full of guns and was planning to do a similar thing at his school. His parents knew about the guns too.
The UK is pretty much secular and we have no problem with school shootings.

Hi...
No....
I dont think religion, or lack of it comes into it.....
Lack of good parents, lack of good discipline perhaps!
Also, the fact that in America, it is 'very' easy for virtually 'anyone' to get their hands on a gun!!

In a round about way, yes.
No one wants to spank anymore, out of an ignorant fear of causing their children to be violent.
Why is there more violence in the schools and society in general, than there was only fifty years ago?
I received a few whacks on the but with a ruler when I was in school and I knew I had it com'n.
of course, now I'm a vicious ax murderer.
God has told us that if we don't spank our children, we really don't love them.
If we loved them we would want them to learn to respect our word.
According to at Least one physiologist it is do to a subconscious fear that the child won't like them. (selfishness, not love)
Children need boundaries to feel secure and if they know they can get away with anything without recourse there is a good chance they will not interact with society in a health way, for themselves or others.
Don't beat your children and don't discipline them when your angry. calm your self, then discipline them in an orderly and fixed manner.
Love is not all ways a bowel of cherries!

Perhaps the teachers ought to be allowed to pray with them.
That might help.
You know what might be even better...if all the kids had been allowed to learn about God, and know that He loves them all...if they were not subjected to so much sex and drugs from grammar school...if they weren't being bombarded by adults clamoring for possession of their minds...if they were simply allowed to be kids. Yes, I think, if we let God back into our schools, it would make alot of difference.
It might have made a heck of a difference to you...
