to magley,
If we stopped being offensive then we would stop being true to the word of God.
You can't have it both ways. You want to be friends with the world and you want to escape being rubbed the wrong way.
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. Isaiah 28:20
to Yoda Green,
The truth is not empirically defined, the truth is not seen and it cannot be measured by what can be seen.
2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
to betterthanzero,
The message is about the love of God for the one who falls and turns to God, not for the one who falls, because we all do, and refuses to get back up on their feet but lays there like a spoiled child believing that it is his right to do so and hating the thought of there being another choice, or that God is even there.
to chris,
Our brains aren't the measure of the truth. The truth is measured by what the bible says. Not accepting it as the measure of truth does not prevent it from being the truth. There is absolute truth. The one who believes that all truth is relative does not believe in absolute truth, but cannot argue against it without using false logic.

But can you say believe in the golden rule then attempt to convert others and not be inviting others to convert you? I'm speaking of Muslims, Jews or other religions of course since you can't 'convert' to atheism. It's by definition religiously neutral. You could possibly 'revert' to atheism since we all begin life without theism.
I don't have much of an issue with what you've said except you also can't very well complain when if you insist on making claims such as 'someone is going to hell' that someone asks you to prove your claim.

Okay. But there is no god and the rules you arbitrarily devote yourself to were designed to manage and pacify a restless society thousands of years ago.
And if you DO believe in the fables of Jesus (or Moses, or Mohammed) you'd realize religion is not supposed to be about chastizing and cajoling and threatening people into joining your particular cult out of fear of damnation. It is about spreading a simple message of love and peace and letting that message stand on its own.
There will always be people who see through the lie, but if you want people to be "saved" or join your flock or whatever your motivation is you'll get more flies with honey than vinegar.
I don't begrudge you your ignorance. If you want to believe in god or Jesus or whatever neat little fairy tale to help you process the mysteries of the universe so be it. Just don't accuse me of heresy when I'm not interested in the same story.

I know you're speaking about religion here, but in all aspects of life, living a philosophy of "absolute truth" is not a possible state for human beings to attain, so no one should even THINK about going there.
Look at it this way: how many relationships, whether it's marriage, living together or whatever, could survive living a life of "absolute truth"? Really think about it for a second. Many women complain that they never know what their spouses/BF's are thinking and vice versa. But...would you really want to know? Could anyone handle knowing the "absolute truth" about the person who is a huge part of their lives?

is this the truth? some agree... some dont! there is nothing like an absolute pure truth!
reason:all brains are biased and for a brain to accept or reject a fact as truth, a lot of preconditioning comes to play and the end result is a biased opinion of the fact.
u only see what ur eyes want to see!

The problem is two fold for those who do not believe as you do. 1) The Jewish religion upon which Christianity is based does not believe in eternal torment of the wicked. 2) How could anyone consider a God who would torture His creation forever and ever as anything less than evil.

Not really but it is like this slippery sucker that we’re tiring to grasp and it just keeps twisting, wreathing, mutating, and slips through our grasp again and again and yet… It has to be there. It has to be real. Every thing is based off this assumption of an absolute truth or reality outside and separate from our perceptions?

Absolute is a myth. It is only true until the next absolute comes along and changes it.
You could say that a circle is the absolute best shape for a wheel. I have tried for 20yrs to better it, with no luck. At this time the circle is an absolute for the best shape of a wheel....How much do we not know?...... that is the only absolute. We do not know, how much we don't know.
Absolute.. is liable to change at any moment.

Darling, aren't you just sooooo special! You managed to insult at least three different religious groups, and non-believers, as well!
And of course, you represented christians in the usual dim witted light, and as usual, judgmental!
So, this is what Christ-like behavior is like! I know I am impressed! (NOT)
We know for a fact that we are intelligent! I am so sorry to hear, that you can not say the same!
Sweetie, when you take on people way over your head?? You lose!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your clarity....and I agree with you.
One should never be overly concerned over what someone says God will do to you in the name of a particular religion.
However, when one states what he will do to you in the name of God....it is incumbent upon all to remove such a person from the gene pool.
