I am obsessive with what my family eats. The only way I can ensure that they are eating healthy food and will continue to eat well as adults, is by cooking for them. I make everything just about everything from scratch. I am motivated by setting an example, but I don't cook on Saturdays, we eat out.

Because I'm not a painter, sculptor, or photographer (although I try) and I can't draw worth a damn, I cook. It is art to me... a right-brained undertaking combining the most nutritious, earth-friendly ingredients in the most delicious and aesthetically pleasing way possible... and so that my finicky 11-year-old daughter will enjoy it.

Cooking is also therapeutic for me... I do more of it when I'm extremely stressed out.

It's also a way that I show people I care... If I want to tell you I love you, I'll do it with something delicious - comes from the heart, useful (everyone needs to eat), and, thus, no waste. Everyone wins.

1.Having somebody or some people that I love, to cook for.

2.Also, to fuel my body properly, and ensure it gets adequate nutrition with minimal preservatives.

3. Avoid eating out. This way you save money and eat healthy at the same time

4. Having new, exciting recipes to prepare, like ones in a magazine, or a new cook book.

5. A fun adventure with my boyfriend. We like to make fancy, complicated things, and it's a great activity to do together on a rainy day or cold evening while sipping wine.

I actually like to cook more than I like to eat. I think it's fun to learn how to make new things and find out about other cultures through food. I also like to entertain so the more I practice, the better the dinners I'm able to serve my friends and family!

There is nothing like watching someone bite into something you cooked and just melt. I love cooking for people just to watch their expressions when I know it is good. I also love that men always compliment my hubby for marrying a woman that can do more than order takeout.

My family. Although I don't always cook the healthiest food, at least I know it's not full of nitrates and food coloring.
