hexagons

The basic design is hexagons, isn't it?
So, to make it triangles, you'd just be dividing the hexagons into six parts by using more struts. More struts would logically make it stronger.
Of course, you'd be using more material, and it would weigh more.

Triangles, if structure is made of rods.
If made of edge joined sheets,
it doesn't matter.
