I would - I rather buy a product produced by an American Prisoner than one produced by a Chinese worker.

I would rather buy things made in prison than the multitude on items made in poor, 3rd world countries by children.
I think that too many in the prison system have little or no work skills. Why do you think that when they get out they go right back to dealing or other illigal activities? It is the only thing they know how to do.
So many americans make decent livings in manufacturing industries. Teach these inmates a trade, give them a leg to stand on. Here is a stat. for you. People who can pay their bills every month are far less likely to commit crimes (burglary, murder, drugs, prostitution, etc.)
I whole heartedly support this messure. I would love to know what products these are so that I can promote them. This is what our prison 'reform' system is all about. Give these people a chance, don't just toss them out on there arses after they have done time, give them tools to suceed.

Absolutely. I think that allowing the inmates to learn some sort of trade while they're serving time makes sense. It creates revenue for the prison by selling what they make - be it stamping license plates or crafting a set of dentures and it gives the inmates a better shot at rehabilitating themselves by giving them a sense of self worth and accomplishment.

Yes, I would still buy them. They're doing something constructive to pay off their debt to society, plus learning skills. I had 2 family members and a friend in prison for non-violent offenses. They all said it gave them something to do instead of being bored and starting fights.

Yes, the cost/benefit ratio is much lower than purchasing goods from mass retailers.
I work in a prison where the industries provide many, many products available for purchase at a very discounted price.

yes of course!! Don't we all want prisoners to get the chance to learn skills that will support them in proper jobs when they get out? Would you rather they were just left to rot till they got out, then they will know nothing other than how to burgle your house?
My only reservation would be: who is actually getting to keep the profits from this cheap labour? Is there some big company who's making even bigger profits from taking advantage of this source of below-minimum wage labour?

Sure. That way the money that I spend on the prison system also returns something to me.
