My cat does this sometimes also. If her catbox has not been emptied (such as when we go out of town for he weekends) or if she is needing attention, she will pee on our bathroom rug. Make sure you keep anything up out of the cats way that it might use to pee on. Also make sure the litter box stays clean and it gets plenty of attention so that it doesn't act out. If you catch the cat in the act make sure you give it a firm no and promptly put it in the litter box.

Have you tried switching litter? Or changing the box more frequently? If you're cat is finding a spot he likes you're going to have to remove all cat scent by cleaning that area thoroughly. But he is a boy, it's quite possible he's marking his territory. If he's fixed, you might have to contain him to a certain area until you can train him and he develops.

I would suggest the'spray bottle'. Whenever you're cat's out of hand spray him.

One of my cats liked to pee on any laundry that was left on the floor. I credit her for making me put my clothes in the hamper as soon as I take them off now.

Anyhow... She also was letting me know that the litter box wasn't clean enough for her. I cleaned it daily, but that was apparently not good enough for her. Since I started the 2 time a day littler box cleanings, she hasn't peed on a thing.

Is your house messy? Is his littler box always clean? Are you switching his food? Is there any changes in the household??
These are items that may make a cat start going else where. They stress out easily. At least this is what happened with my cat. I would call a vet!
They do make this spray stuff. If you spray items, he won't pee there. Works great on couches!

I think sometimes they mark the territory, if they see outside cats around the house, usually indoor cats will do this. I once had the same problem, I got a 3'x6' cage(and set it up for her comfort) and when nobody was home last one out put the cat in its "house". I had her for 14 years before she died it was sometimes a pain, but we were friends.

is he fixed.. he could be just marking his spot. get him fixed. I think there is a spray you can buy at the pet store that will stop him from doing this.. also make sure you change his kitty litter everyday or try changing the type of kitty litter you are using.
