it is one part of the garlic head the clove is like a leaf so when something says add a clove it means only one piece make sure you skin it right

one little section is a clove of garlic, it will break off into what looks like a tear drop that is a clove...

If you peel off the outer skin of a garlic bulb, you will see thathat is made up of sections like a tangerine or orange. Each of those sections is a clove.
