Turkey has recalled their ambassador after the congress accused Turkey of genocide 100 years ago. Are the democrats trying to secure our defeat in Iraq?

Is this a victory for the democrats? We need our ally Turkey to fight the war in Iraq. Why would congress pass a resolution condemming Turkey for something that happened 100 years ago?

Kimmy, we disagree on 99.9% of everything (including Sports related issues), but I agree with you that this was a pointless move by Congress. Why piss off an ally in the region on a semantic issue?

All of this said, I don't believe for a second that democrats want America to lose in Iraq.

The whole world has demanded that Turkey take responsibility for the genocide it committed against Armenians, Greeks, Kurds and Christians in general, for a hundred years. Turkey steadfastly refuses to do so and many of their own citizens have been persecuted and murdered for standing up and speaking the truth.
Greeks have tried for more than a hundred years to be friends to the Turks and to this day the Turkish Government continues
to disrespect the Orthodox Church in Istanbul.
The Turks will continue to allow the US Forces to remain in Turkey for as long as the US wants. Its good for the US and its good for Turkey.
It protects Turkey from any hostile forces from the north.(Russia).
It gives Americans the advantage in the area over the Russians.
But don't forget that Turkey refused to let our boys fly sorties from Turkey into Iran. So we had to go to Bulgaria.
I am very glad to hear that the Ambassador returned to Turkey.
That's a good thing. It's a good thing for freedom loving people all over this planet.
To this day women in Turkey are beaten by their husbands at will and the courts in Turkey have steadfastly refused to do anything positive.
I am very sad that the Turkish government has continued to
live with attitudes that are hundreds of years old, and I pray for Turkey that they will join the 21 century soon. But in the mean time people need to take a stand. The congress did what was right. For a change. Thank God Almighty.

EDIT: It was Hitler who said that since no one cared when Turkey killed 2 1/2 million Armenians that no one would care if the Nazis killed all the Jews.

Well dont forget at the start of the US led war in Iraq in 2003 Turkey Refused access to the 4th infintry division which is our largest division if you remember the thing with jessica lynch and our supply lines getting attacked if we would have had the 4th infitry division coming in from the north that would have never happened. So in short Turkey during the war and their refusal to let our troops enter from the north cost American lives. Our largest and best equipted division was still on its boats in the oceans at the start of the war. Americans dont forget very easy, so good if Turkey has to take one on the Chin they need to. They may still be an ally but even allies have to be scolded every once in a while.

The Democrats and Liberals hate George Bush so much that they no longer need to accept any responsibility. He warned the Democrats that the consequences would be dire, but did they listen? I see Liberals blaming Bush for attacking Iraq in the first place. Seems like that is their excuse for a poor decision. NO Health care for children? They never should have attacked Iraq! It's like watching Bill Maher! We get it. Move on. We are here now. What next?

Kimmy, you are absolutely right however the Dem's will say, "we support the troops" when the reality is the Dem's can't get enough votes to "cut and run" so they use whatever dirty tactic they can to undermine the war effort. The insult of Turkey was calculated to stop the flow of supplies to the troops. The Dem's thinking is by doing this they can force the troops out of Iraq. When the reality is It provides aid and comfort to the enemy they should be tried for treason. However, the Republicans don't have the balls to fight the dirty tactics of the Dem's.

Maybe becuase they are trying to join the EU but they dont allow Christians to live openly in thier country. The government has to approve of every new priest (just like communist china) and they're land and churches is confiscated by the government at regular intervals.

They slaughtered the Armenians becuase the were Christian.

do we wait till the invade our allies the Kurds in northern Iraq?

Turkey is no friend since the collapse of the Soviets

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad received criticism for saying the Holocaust did not happen. Trying to pretend the Armenian genocide did not happen is no better. Should we let it drop becuase it happened almost 100 years ago? If so, when should we tell the Jews to drop the whole "Holocaust" thing, after all that was over 60 years ago.

Either we as people condemn all genocides or we condemn none.

Why ? Crass, bloodletting politics! Money! Embarass the current administration! Seek to deflect attention from Pelosi terrible Congressional ratings. What has Ms Couric reported this week --- Congress on Turkey or the non-existent Earmark policies?

Due to the Quota system of immigration in law from about 1914 to the 1960, more Westerners -- (Read Europe, Christians) were allowed into this country then non-Christians.
Armenians and Greeks for the most part are Christians -- So they came and an astude politician will play to those groups that give money -- Greeks and Armenians --- So dumping on The former Ottoman Empire is a good cash source.

Greeks hate the Ottomans for controlling Greece for 300 years. Armenians hate the Ottomans for controlling Southern Russia for 300 years. "Jugoslavis" hate the Ottomans for controlling the Balkins for 300 years ---

Yet, no one seems to remember Kemal AtaTurk was in 1923 and Modern Turkey is a very secular government, which is not the Ottoman Empire.

But Congress plays not to truth but to the $. It plays to get media attention. I find it ironic the same politician who are vocal when a Christian, Catholic, Jewish spokesperson calls out for ethics, morality, and justice --- that these religious are are interferring religion into politics. They, however, will demand that the Ms Courics of the world to comdemn the Turkish Army when they (per their constitution) prevents a religious group from taking power --- Religion is seen differently in most other parts of the world.

If you are upset --- demand for an account of cash donations to the voters for this stupid bill and from whom? Mr Soros will be in the list --- so to will be various left leaning Democrats of Greek or Armenian descent.

I suggest that you read "While 6,000,000 Died" to see how the sacred FDR acted when he knew with evidence that Jews were being killed --- but as far as he was concerned --- the Jewish dying in Europe could not vote for him and those here could be bribe to vote for him --- with jobs, easing of Jewish quotas to school --- [Look when Jews could get Jobs in say DuPont, Ford, RCA --- Look when people of Chinese heritage could own property in the State of Oregon --- hint read Oregon's pre 1948 state constitution]

She did it on purpose to further inflame problems over there...it truly is a factor of the Dumocrap plan to sabotage something sturdy happening interior the ME. Congress is the biggest roadblock to triumphing the conflict to incorporate Al Qeada. I say this even although i think of Bush has made a multitude of the conflict on Terror. i think of our Congress Reid Pelosi and Murtha have carried out extra harm than many of the IED's in Iraq....

Turkey are no benefit in the war on terror in Iraq. They have no military input into the region except for blocking forces arranged against the Northern Kurds.

But you seem to think that the lives of hundreds of thousands of men women and children of the Armenian Nation are worth nothing.

Hopefully someday you and your children will not be treated so contemptibly.
