Glycolic acid is stronger than those fruit acids you buy off the counter. It does reduce fine lines but dont expect dramatic difference. However, frequent peeling will cause the skin to become thinner and more sensitive. You end up getting more sun spots and blemishes.

Depending on your skin and your daily skincare regime, the effect can last for about 2 weeks. However, for some people, results last longer. Say about 3-4 weeks.

If it's your first time doing a professional peel, start off with a lower percentage. Not every skin can tolerate the same amount of glycolic acid. Or else risk having your skin 'burnt'. Your dermatologist will recommend you the suitable percentage during your consultation.

The secret in peels is how deep and what strength they are using. If it is a light peel it isn't going to last long.

You want at least a medium 35% solution for longer lasting results.
