could be vertigo.....have you had any ear problems lately? - earaches, hearing loss, words sounding hollow or echoing in your head?....have you been swimming recently? (could be water in your ear)....otherwise i would guess that maybe when you woke up it was dark and you just didnt have your wits about yo but that does not explain the prolonged feeling....see a doctor

Yes this happens to me...it has comes and goes. You need to go to an ear doctor...they will run quite a few tests and it will take awhile. I have an abnormal fluid balance in my ears...days that it gets bad I get very dizzy and can't walk well and sometimes feel very sleepy. It usually last several hours and the off balance feeling can go on for several days...certain things can trigger the attacks like too much salt(salt can REALLY affect some folks with ear and balance problems) caffeine, stress, lack or sleep etc. You could simply have a inner ear infection( if this is the case, you won't have to go through any testing like I did) or it could be something more serious...this is why you need to go to the DR as soon as possible. Good luck!

The answer of blood sugar is good. If, this work you still need to see your doctor and explain what happen and what you did to make it go away. He may do a blood test to see "IF" you may be slightly diabetic.
Also, how do your ears feel? Sometimes a small ear infection may cause a dizzy or instability problem.
But, it hard to say on here and a Doctor not a bad idea just to be safe.
