Hi there,
First let me say that I am sorry you are suffering. I began suffering from major depression at the age of twelve, and I know how terrible it can be to have this cloud surrounding you while you're trying to cope with the demands of adolescence.
Second, I am sorry about some of the "answers" you received from people who are either cruel or self-interested.
I am a licensed psychotherapist, and work with many young people who are in similar circumstances. I believe you should talk first with a trusted adult -- perhaps a parent, but only if you're sure you'll get a supportive response. You can also consider a relative, a close friend's parent, a school counselor or a trusted teacher who knows you well. The idea here is to get some help with finding a direction to proceed in.
Psychotherapy and medication are the most used and probably the most effective means for overcoming depression, especially when they're combined. However at your age you may want to try to avoid the medication route. Dependency and side effects are problematic, and I recommend them only if therapy alone is not helpful enough. If you do need to go the medication route, adhere to your doctor's instructions and report any problems or side effects you may be experiencing. My bottom line about all of this is: Do whatever works.
Best of luck.

Hey. There are many things you can do for depression. First of all, if you haven't seen someone, you should. That's an obvious start. With therapy and medication, your condition can improve dramatically. Try this first.
You can also try alternative treatments which are safe and have less side effects. Again, you'll need to do your homework to find someone or something reputable.
Then there's diet and exercise. This is not going to "cure" you, but it certainly helps. Sometimes, you may need to do several 'little' things and as they all come together, it can help with the big picture.
I'm going to include a resource where you can watch short, free, informative videos that can give you a better idea as to what you can do. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Dealing with depression is so tough. Get with a dr that treats teens with depression. You also need to get a counselor, or your minister someone you can talk to. Friends are good but don't always know how to help. Hang in there we care and you can be happy.

Then DO NOT EVER go to a therapist! Talk to you mom, dad, siblings, SOME one who is a member of the family and just air out for about 1 hour. Get in an activity you like, or get a job to keep you busy. And when you get a job, that means spending money! Then who's depressed now!LOL!
