I couldn't survive in a church like that. I need to be encouraged, challenged and corrected (indirectly) I hope.

Hi Rodney; There is a vast difference between legalistic obedience to Christ and obedience from the heart. I noticed that you mentioned no TV, women not wearing pants and nobody wearing shorts. Those things are personalized for people depending on their walk with the Lord.
I was a football fanatic before coming to Christ. When my team lost I would go bonkers and curse and say a lot of irrational and hurtful things. When I got saved I committed my Sundays to God but still continued to watch football. Then football began to take precedence to church and the Lord reminded me that my commitment was to Him and not the televised games. It took four years for that to sink in. I didn't lose my desire to serve God, and God used me in ministry in spite of that. TV isn't the problem, nor is pants or shorts. It is what is in our hearts. God will convict us as nobody else can about how to look and act in public and in church as well as what to watch on TV or to stop watching television altogether. We are not to be the Holy Spirit in the lives of others.
There is not a church that I have attended in over 33 years that is sold out to God to the point that every person in the assembly loves God more than anyone or anything and shows it by their words and actions 24/7. We all need to improve.
I do agree with you that a church that has no desire to see Christ exalted and has no real burden for souls is seriously backslidden and in need of repentance and revival. That is most, if not all churches in the United States today as well as many other countries. I have stayed in churches for years to seek the Lord to see the church change and it would not. I moved on as you did but only as the Lord directed. I am in a church today that shows much activity and little spiritual power but I see signs of life that give me the hope that there may be revival coming to that church. I will stay and pray.
Above everything else though I must tell you that I learned from a wise man a long time ago that we are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Before we go too far in judging others we must be sure that we have taken a very close look at ourselves and where we are in our walk with Christ. It is one thing to complain and point fingers, and quite another to get in there and do all within our power to change things that need changing and leave things alone that are working fine. We need much wisdom to know the difference.

Hm this is a tough question. Part of me would want to stay at the church and act in a different way then others who go there. Maybe your example would lead them to want to reach those lost souls. But on the other hand, if you are not growing spiritually, then NO I would not stay there. You need to be in a church where you are gaining knowledge of the Lord, and where people are being saved and joining the chrisitan family. You should be out sharing the gospel and setting a christian example to all that you come in contact with.

I can't remember the name of the preacher that said it, but a wise man once said that if the business of the church wasn't soul-winning, it didn't deserve the building it met at.
I don't go to a stringent a church. I feel that some of what your church does is a return to legalism. I could wear nothing but skirts for a year and not get one whit closer to God. But different people require different things. If this brings you closer to God and if your church really is growing by bringing sinners to salvation, then may God bless you.

I remember a Church that people came as they were and most were dirty from the long walk to get to it and they brought nothing with them but wanted to hear the Word. There were people of all walks of life and they listened to one who spoke in a way all could understand. He did not use guilt or damnation to influence, but used Peace and Love. He would also make sure all were fed not only Spiritually but with earthly food, as well.
The one was Christ and it was the first Church, and I serve this Church, to this day. You see I am a Pastor and will not get man involved in things that Christ did not do, but let them see there is another Path to help guide them in there times of trouble. We do offer salvation through The Holy Spirit, when it is in the person but with out it most congregations are just showboating and do not show Love the way Christ did. Some people are so much in need of Love that they know not any path and we must be the light to help them. Feed the poor cloth the needy and be at there side in times of need, and show we have Christ and introduce them to The Holy Spirit, and Baptize and continue the 2000 year Church, as there is only one and that is Christ's alone.
I have to say this as much as it pains me, some people are so Heavenly minded that they are no Earthly good doing God's work. And I do not point to any one person, as there are times I catch my self falling in this trap as well. But I let The Holy Spirit guide me and lead by examle not by what others can not do. God Bless

Wow now I have a headache. I am not really sure I got all of that, but I think so. I am glad you found a church that was right for you. I don't understand churches that don't require anything of their members, you come dressed how ever you want, behave as appalling as you want. I think those are really just churches for people who feel guilty not going to a church but heaven forbid someone make them accountable.

Personally, I get tired of people trying to save me to make a point off of me. And I would never be so arrogant as to think I could save someone I just met, and don't even know. For that person might be more righteous than I am.
You do not have to bow down to NO MAN, to get saved. You can be at a park, the river, or lying in your bed at night. All you have to do is ask Jesus to come into your Heart.
"Don't stand in front of everyone like the hyopcrites do, so everybody can see them. But go to your Heavenly Father in secret. And He who sees you in secret, ( and knows it's for real), will reward you openly."

God changed into contained in the course of useless, dry bones in Ezekiel in case you bear in mind. And top contained in the course of dryness and shortage of life, He led to existence and revival to take position. it truly is not about if God is in a useless church. it truly is about what's your certain objective and objective there. Does God favor to apply you to prophesy to the useless, dry bones to stay? =) If not, then by using all skill wipe your feet and flow on. Pray for those souls who're enslaved by using the drought of this international!

i would not go to a dead church, church is for refreshing your spirit and helping you to grow, if everyone;s dead, how can they help anyone else???! im glad you are searching for higher hights with the lord, good luck in all your doing, only problem with your statement, women can wear pants if they want to i never read a part in the bible that said not to wear pants and to wear skirts all the time, it only says not to wear pertaining to men, and they make womens jeans so....and to dress modest, its fine if you feel this way, just dont judge others who wear pants, okay. :) just my opinion
