Not knowing the answer doesn't mean it's ok to insert God. You have to have some evidence that God is involved before you can do that.

You are right...atheists need not even believe that the Big Bang ever occurred.

If you can tell me why:

The picture of bigfoot, spce aliens, flying saucers are all blurry.
No healer has ever regenerated a limb, an eye or raised the dead
Why Sylvia Browne and all other Psychics are always wrong(when they are checked up on)
Why Priests always rape boys ( not all but there are over a million claims)
How do you expect someone to ecplain the origin of something that happened billions of years ago to people who think the universe is 5000 years old and that men rode on Dinosaurs.

LEAVE THE ATHEISTS ALONE THEY DON'T KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR AND WAKE YOU UP ON YOUR DAY OFF TO ARGUE WITH YOU DO THEY?

I would like to add my thoughts on FREE WILL

Do the people of:
Darfur
Iraqi Civilians
Iranian Women and Cildren who may be getting bombed by Israel
Serbian and Croatian victims of Ethnic Cleansing
Slaves of all ages
Did they have Free Will?

Did the Religious Missionaries help free them and bring them to their homes and share their brad with them, like the Bible says they should?

Just Curious but I already know.

The only church who does that sort of thing as far as I know is the Mennonites, and they don't wear it on their shirtsleeve

I'd posit that as super string theory is becoming more proven, that the origin of the big bang is already explained.

Edit:
Super String and M-Theory are essentially the same thing, they allow the 5 string theories to resolve to on theory by adding a 11th dimension.

Edit 2:
Catholic Crusader, those 5 proofs are a bit dated as "fire" is not the hottest thing going. It's an interesting read though and I'll dissect it later.

I think if anyone has an opinion about something, they should know the reasoning behind it and know how to back it up. I think that about everything, not just religion-EVERYTHING. If I choose to not believe in God, that that is my choice. If I choose to believe in God and the Bible, that is also a choice.
People should question everything, and if I were to question you, I would want to know that you had the brains to back up your statement. Disregarding God is a very big statement. If you would ask me the same question, I better know what the heck I'm talking about. But this could go on and on and on. Even though you don't believe this, I believe in God given free will. And that means you can believe what ever you want.
That's what makes us different than the animals. And robots.

I am an atheist and I think it is important to SOMEDAY be able to explain the Big Bang. And you are correct, just because there is a gap in our knowledge does not mean that God fits in there.

Good point!!!

The same reason that Atheists think it's important that Christians explain the existence of God

I've never understood why some of my fellow Christians have had a problem with the Big Bang Theory. If ever a scientific theory dovetailed with theology and better I've never seen it.

Though I don't agree with him, I have to applaud Catholic Crusader for such a well thought out answer.

It's still a moot point to claim everything needs a creator, to do so, you must then explain who created the creator.

Well it isn't important to atheism, but M Theory does explain it.
