The Jews are not Christian. The Sabbath is Saturday. Christian's do not follow old testament law. We no longer have to obey the Sabbath or any of the old testament laws. The only laws now are love thy God, love thy neighbor, and love thy enemy. Sunday for Christian's is just a day to remember Jesus's sacrifice it is not the Sabbath.

The old covenant required Israel to rest / cease from work on the sabbath; the seventh day. It was to be the sign of that covenant between Israel and God.
The early Christians who were Gentiles, began coming together on Sunday mornings for communal prayers and singing of hymns before going off to work.
As time went by, Sunday began to take on the attributes of the Sabbath with some Christians. However, the trappings of the sabbath were not supposed to come forward into the new covenant.

God gave the Sabbath and the Mosaic Law to the Jews. Christ rose on Sunday ,the 1rst day of the week. Now that is called the Lord's day (Rev. 1) Paul would preach in the synangougs on Sat. and preach and take up offerings from Christians on Sunday.
Collosians 2 say all those old laws were nailed to the cross with Jesus. There fore let no man judge you in what you eat or drink or sabbath's etc..."

First problem: Judaism is not a Christian religion. Do your own homework before you try to help your kid with his.
Second: Jews celebrate Shabbot on Shabbot because that is what God Commanded.
Look at any calendar. The SEVENTH day is Saturday. God rested on the seventh day and commanded Jews to rest on that day also.
The Christians wanted to distance themselves from their Jewish roots and the Jewish faith so changed "their" holy day to Sunday. When the Muslims came along, they pulled the same trick and moved "their" holy day to Friday.
The only Christians that got it right are the Seventh Day Adventists who celebrate Sabbath on Saturday.

The sabbath is Saturday, you are correct. Sunday is the Lord's day. This is the day that Jesus resurrected and brought us eternal life.
"From the beginning, Christians assembled on the first day of the week. It was called the Lord's Day by John in the Apocalypse. They met on the Lord's Day for the purpose of religious worship, to read the Scriptures, to preach and to celebrate the Lord's Supper." The beginning of the Christian church, the day of Pentecost was on the first day of the week.

hunshu01 is correct. The sabbath was originally on a Sunday, part of the reason the early Christians began to recognize Sunday as the sabbath was to be more appealing to the sun worshipers.

Public colleges interior the U. S. are no longer allowed to sell faith. that does no longer mean they won't be able to rejoice the secular components of a substantial holiday. The final time I checked, there grow to be no longer something Christian approximately Santa or reindeer. If a public college is putting up a nativity scene interior the cafeteria, or conserving a Christmas prayer consultation earlier smash, then they're exposing themselves to a capacity regulation wholesome. yet you would be shocked at how few colleges even point out Christmas anymore. they have quite often opted to rejoice a familiar iciness holiday season, if something, out of appreciate for people who do no longer rejoice Christmas.

Christians switched to Sunday after the council of Nicea which was a move to bring in the pagans who worshipped the sun (sun-day) for the sole purpose of creating a unifying religion for the Roman Empire.
johnny_rico9> Constantine was the pagan Roman Emperor...he was NOT the 1st pope or any pope of the church...although it is true he presided over the council of Nicea as this was his way of making one official religion of the empire

I really don't know the answer - but it sure makes more sense. We consider Sunday to be the first day of the week (all our calendars are that way). So...if God rested on the 7th day - it makes sense that Saturday is that day.
Of course....having Saturday as our holy day sure would screw up our drinking and wild parties. It's kinda nice that we have it on Sunday so we can be absolved of our sins from the night before!
