#1) Being 19 legally qualifies you as an adult. However, you are still quite young and someones Daughter. This is not joking around. He is looking for you to give him a signal that it is ok to persue and continue to touch you. Men can be strange, especially those who are not raised properly to respect Ladies. Men recieve signals that to you is just communication or friendly. To him, its flirting, or you may like him etc...He probably talks about you with his friends and family when your not there or listening in ways you would not appreciate. A Male has no right to touch a Lady without consent in any way shape or form. This sounds like it is making you uncomfortable and you should take measures to prevent it in the future. Especially work related. If not taken seriously, he will continue, and move on to the next until it escalates to someone getting hurt. He obviously was not told as a child to respect Ladies. Not correcting the situation can lead to Danger!! Some men have a mental sickness where slapping a girls butt is a turn on. Unexcusable. Get away from him, run for help!!

Its not clear if this act (the spanking) was performed at work or not. If it was it was flat out sexual harassment and you should advise him that that was in-appropriate behavior.
He will most likely come back with that he was just joking around but it doesn't matter he needs to understand where the line is and he has crossed it.
As far as why guys like to slap girls butts goes back the basic playground tactics. If a guy or girl thinks someone of the opposite sex is cute, attractive and/or just wants to let the other person know they they exist we will do the "love tap". I chalk it up to as "I have no idea what to do or say to you so a playful tap/hit or tickle is the way in" method.
The fact that the guy slapped your butt is reaching pretty far into the way in method.
Regardless if you do not say something to him or a supervisor about his behavior your pretty much setting yourself up for more rude behavior and he will think it is acceptable and you enjoy it.

Any activity dealing with physical touching in a working environment is inappropriate. Especially, if it is against someone's wishes, As far as guys..............they really like to touch any part of a girl. It is like back in school on the playground when the guy picked on you, it meant he liked you. They were just to immature to express it in the proper way. Even though this guy is "older" he apparently suffers from the same immaturity.

well it could depend on his personality and he could of done it to millions of girls before you.

men think its to show that they are the greater species and to show they have the power.
did you lead him on in anyway like a glance or staring around him?
personally i would say that is sexual harassment and i would report him to the police or even your boss because if he makes you feel uncomfortable its not fair on you and your work place.
not normal for a co-worker especially at work

This is probably because he is attracted to you, and since like in football guys hit each other and its ok, he probably thinks he can use this as an excuse to touch you. If you feel uncomfortable tell him and it will probably solve the problem. Or, it could be that he is sexually frustrated, and this action is a way of letting it out.

it could be considered harassment in the workplace, depends whether or not you took it seriously. If he hit you pretty hard and it left a mark than maybe he could not be joking around.. or just joking and not realize his strength. its up to you on whether or not to make a complaint.

Slapping girls' butts is pretty fun, but doing it without consent from her is incredibly inappropriate, especially coming from a co-worker. Clearly he's got no boundaries, so I would probably say something to him to make sure it doesn't happen again.

No man should be touching your butt in anyway whatsoever without your permission. At work it is harrassment and you should tell him that you do not think it was apporiate. If he does not listen report him to your boss. He is old enough to know this.
