Faith Can Move Mountains!
Someone may ask, however, ‘Did Jesus mean that such faith could literally transfer mountains?’ Jesus may have included that, but he often used illustrations. (Matthew 13:34) So he probably had in mind obstacles that could be like mountains to the believer. In fact, the word “mountain” is frequently used to mean a huge quantity, such as “a mountain of debts.” That true faith can transfer or remove mountainlike obstacles is confirmed by many modern-day experiences.

For example, would you not agree that being paralyzed from the neck down would be such a mountain? Yet, a quadriplegic living in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, not only has learned to paint, with either a brush or a palette knife held in his mouth, but also supports himself by selling his paintings. Moreover, his faith moves him to talk to others about what he has learned from the Bible, doing so either in his wheelchair or by writing letters. He types his letters by striking the typewriter keys with a stick held in his mouth.

His example of faith, coupled with hard work and determination, is a source of encouragement to those around him.
Faith in God’s Word and his promises has similarly helped others. For example, it has helped many to overcome unchristian habits and customs, such as shady business practices, stealing, smoking, gambling, drunkenness, spiritism, sexual immorality, and false religious practices. The common factor in all such experiences was the obtaining of convincing evidence that God exists, that the Bible is his written Word, and that his promises set forth in the Scriptures are trustworthy and will be fulfilled. Such faith can move mountains.

I used to have the same questions, except, I was very involved with loving God and I couldn't seem to make mountains move...that said, I continued and persevered in faith.. I chose to read all the scriptures and not just part of them... I began to receive a "whole" picture of Gods word instead of "sectional perspective"... often known as the me, my, I perspective and what God could do for me attitude.
As I began to let go of what I wanted and just let God be the maker in my life, peace began to develop. God is not so worried about material stuff, most of how He spoke in the Word was based upon winning souls for HIM. When that became a goal, those kinds of mountains were what was moved...
Life consumes all of us sometimes, I know for sure... but honestly, turning on God never has been the answer for me... sometimes I relish the idea of "jeanie" and making things just happen for me.. but I don't have the whole picture... he knows that whole picture. I as a "jeanie" would get in the way of His goal.
I hope this helped. If you are suffering, I am so sorry... Please try to pray... just talk to God. Just talk to Him, go in a room by yourself and just tell HIM what you feel about this whole mountain thing.... be yourself, and He'll be himself to you.
Take care.

You started off on the right foot...God in the flesh which is Jesus DID say that if you have just the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains. Mountains are the problems in your life.

I hope you understand it is just a metaphor, a figure of speech. We say "the sky is falling", does it really fall? Or "sun sets or rises". We know sun never sets and never rises. It is only an apparent motion.
What it means is that great things can be accomplished if one has faith in God. It is God who can 'move mountains' in one's life.

Yes, we lack true faith. Jesus said if we have faith the size of a mustard seed...but we don't. I don't think he was telling us to go around moving stuff, but I think he was showing just how we fall short in faith, even his disciples who knew him and followed him.

Oh boy! Obviously, this is not to be literally meant...No one truly expects that God would give man the ability through faith to start tossing mountains around.

They don't have enough faith. They don't truly believe it can happen. Besides, He was just using that as an example. Saying that if you believe God can do something, He will.

Metaphor for huge problems in your life....why do people still ask this question like they are proving something to Christians (lack of faith, etc.).
