Yes, it is fair because it's the law. I know you illegal proponents don't think the laws matter, but they do. Those seeking political asylum from a communist country are usually granted it.

These people are truly facing hardship in their country. You won't find thousands of Cuban immigrants burning our flag or dragging it on the ground. They are grateful for a chance at true freedom and are respectful of this country and they come here knowing that if they can only get their feet onto American soil, they can ask for asylum---legally.

They have no access to diversity lotteries, American embassies and the various visas that we offer. This is their only chance to flee communism and some will risk their lives and the lives of their children to attempt it.

When Cubans are found in boats and makeshift rafts still in the ocean, they are returned to Cuba...and to what passes for justice there...because THAT too is the law. Their feet have to touch US soil to ask for asylum.

It's not fair either when Cubans and Haitians come to Miami in the same (Back in 2000), the Cubans get to stay and the Haitians went to jail, then back to their country. Haiti, Cuba, Mexico are facing almost the same problems. Hunger, unumployment, political trouble etc. What is so special about Cuban? When a group of Haitians is cought at see coming illigally to the U.S. it's on channel 7 (South Florida) all week, they even use the it as a commercial. But when it's a group of Cubans they don't even show it because most of the south florida journalists are Cubans anyways. The U.S. want the Cubans on their side so they can allow them to invade Cuba, but it's not going to happen. Castro is a tough guy and like him a lot, because he doesn't let anybody rule his country. You leave Cuba, don't go back. and Americans don't like that because they think they rule the world.

The same rules should apply across the board. But they don't. The only difference between the 2 countries I can see is how our government hates Fidel and how the Mexican government panders to our profiteering in their country.
