I am sure that there are fake mediums out there, but there are people out there with GOD given talents. We all have the ability, but our lives are so rushed!! We should stop and listen to our inner voices. I know a true medium, YES!! she believes in GOD. She is no fake, I got to know her a few months ago when my ex shot himself on my son's 15th Birthday. He went to her for help as he did not mean to do it. He was troubled and lost. She knew things only he and I knew. The things that he said and the way he said it through her, it could only have been him. She has helped my children and myself through this very difficult time. Not charging me a cent for her time and knowledge. Another thing, a true meduim does not charge to help someone, it is up to you if you would like to give a donation.

It's a great experience to see a medium, but it's healthy to still remain sceptical. I was very sceptical and showed no body language or facial expressions or hints to fill in any blanks.
I seen a medium a few years ago I knew she real by telling me something I only knew about myself and family just like she had researched me. She was blown out by me to tell her something of a recent event about herself. What I find still amazing after my reading is without conscious thought until I just read your question. What she told me years ago I've done or I am doing it. She told me I was going to leave the United States and never come back. Well I no longer live there or ever want to go back. When I travel around the world it's really bazaar every flight I've taken has bypassed the US or I've missed a connecting flight that there was a stop over in the US. Missing this plane I was re booked onto a plane that didn't land in the US. This is only one of the things she told me of the many that has happened over the years and there has been so many others to what I was told in my reading that has clicked. So I've kept an open mind and remained sceptical. A lot of people have this TV or movie image of a reading, you know now its not like this at all and it's a very personal experience that will remain between you and your medium. I was expecting a Oda May Brown but I must have got a Allison Dubois. Also my reading didn't cost me anything

Sadly there are a lot of fakes out there who are only in it for the fame and money. However you can if your lucky come accross a real gifted person.
I dont call myself a medium but on occassion I have been able to give information to people of which I had no possible way of knowing. I cannot go into details and the whole thing shocked me even more than it did for the sitter. Most times its been when we are relaxing and suddenly I know something
and then I will say it. At all times the information given to them was in order to help them through something and was given in Love.
This is not any Demon at work here I am a Christian person and have great faith, I have never charged any money so no profit has come from any of this, the only reward was the thanks I received for helping that person.
I do charge for Healing work as this is part of my living. Dont tell me this is from the Devil because the Church has sanctified it. Its healthy to ask questions, but keep an open mind, I hope the information you received has given you answers to your questions, dont forget that your Guardian Angels will always listen to you, and God hears all your prayers......I am sending you special Angels to watch over you.

Both. A true medium can not read you.... Fakes are the ones who are well trained at reading facial expressions and can make an educated guess based on questions and the slightest change in your expression.True mediums have no real control over what they know, they are the ones who are hunting down the person to pass on the message. But never pay for advice/help those people are just scam artists.

Some are fake, some are real. It's weird, but true. There really IS more to the world than is dreamt of in your philosophy or mine.
I once 'fooled the guesser' at Magic mountain. but the way I did it made me suspicious. He guessed the weight I THOUGHT I was. So I stood off to one side afterwards and made my own mental guesses as to the weight or age of the next 5 customers. Each time he guessed what I was thinking. Which was wrong every time.
Explain THAT!

Some people seem to have an extra sense that allows them to know things that the rest of us don't. One of my favorite shows is Psychic Detectives and many times they are able to find missing persons or murder victims with information that there is NO way they could know.
I think there are plenty of fakes out there, too, so I agree with being skeptical, but the person you saw really could have some extra abilities, too. How I would try to figure out if they were "real" or not is to think back over your conversation and what she said. If she said you were married, were you wearing a wedding band? If she said you were wealthy, were you wearing expensive clothes/shoes etc.
Try to see if there is anyway she could have deducted the things she said from anything you told her or how you were dressed.
Also sometimes they make pretty generic statements that are true, but could be true of other ppl too. Think about if she said the same things to your mom, or your friend, or your boss, or whoever, would they still be true of them (sometimes they generalize and fish for you to tell them things, then guess by how you react).
Interesting, I have always been afraid to visit one. Probably my religious upbringing, but I always think their powers are from some evil forces.
After watching the TV show though and seeing the good they do for some families or the police, I have lightened up my thinking a little bit :-)
Anyway, good luck figuring it out.

I'm also a skeptic, but have had some eerie experiences with a couple of psychics. Those aside, I would say that most (if not all?)are either frauds, or just not too good at what they do. Cold readers like Sylvia Brown are so bogus that it is difficult to see why they have any credibility at all. Others, like John Edward, know so much that they are either authentic - or use tricks that are not obvious. That being said, I have had some genuine spiritual experiences myself. I just can't articulate them in a comprehensible way. Some things just have to be taken on faith.

there are those that are fake, but then there are those that are real. I've encountered both kinds, one was the cold reading, the type that reads your body language to predict what the answer is to what you are wanting or to tell you something about yourself, these ones use questions often times. Others, as the other one that I've encountered, only asked my name and age, she told me a lot of things that could happen if I take certain paths, she told me things about my past that I did not even mention, nor did she ask about it.
As far as why they don't play the lottery, I guess they are just content with how they're lives are that they don't need nor want all that money and enjoy just being simple people.

There was a good South Park episode about mediums.
Personally I think they are all fake but it is good to test people. E.g. ask them to provide verifiable information that they couldn't have known any other way, or ask them questions mentally to see if they are telepathic.

Although some can seem very well in tune with your private life without knowing you, many cannot. I feel this way if they were that good they would be millionaires by picking the right lottery numbers or horses etc.
