Mato - I agree that the rapture is a myth not based on biblical teachings. Thank you for pointing that out.

You should be careful what you ask honey.... I asked an innocent question similar to this one and I was reported for a violation.

By the way... I enjoy your Q's and A's, and I think you're a sweetheart! *hugs*

Faith is a very personal thing. The Rapture is part of the 'fundie' belief, and it is unkind to belittle the concept, since mankind as a whole is generally not smart enough to know whether it will happen or not.
All world religions do not believe in the rapture. Some do, some do not.
The question should be, "do you believe in the rapture?"
People that sincerely do believe in it have faith that it is going to happen.
That is why it is called faith, a.k.a. 'believing in something you may not be able to understand or SEE'.

I Thessalonians 4. The dead in Christ will rise first (the first resurrection)then we who are alive and left, will be 'Caught Up ' to meet the Lord in the air(see Jesus is not touching down for the Second Coming) and there we shall be with the Lord.
Those two words, "Caught up" is the Greek 'Harpazo' it means to be "snatched away". Jerome in his Latin Vulgate, translated harpazo, to the Latin "Rapturos" where we get the word "Rapture".
Who's wrong....You or the Bible?Or maybe you only believe what fits your little box? This has been a teaching of the church from the beginning. The reason it fell out of favor is because Israel had to be in the land in order for it to happen. No one had the Faith in God to believe that God after 2000 years ,would indeed bring Israel back to the land. When He did in 1948,the belief in the rapture started up again. It should always have been taught! It was omitted through lack of faith.Maybe we should get scissors and cut those passages out ,Huh?
A few more passages and it says why,"Because God has not appointed us to wrath". Now ,your lack of faith may keep you here but I hope to go through faith in God's word.

Let's review:
God FOR REAL drops by, snags us who are saved and leaves them who ain't.
Them what remain realize they have lost the totally worst bet they ever made, make the best of it.
BUT, the fundamental driving force cultivating society, promoting peace, wonderfulness, and elevation of humankind has just left the building with the billions of His closest friends. You are then at the mercy of those who have no ethics, so you will die in war for Earthly power. You are abused by those who realize what they missed and want to blame everybody else, plus all of the social losers will have one less choice in their retinue of mistakes.
Judges are replaced by warlords, police are replaced with mercenaries.
Thus, look forward to sharpening your plowshares and to servitude to those who suck, but have the heightened motivation to eat your young.
Study prison riots. Look at the Japanese overrunning Manilla during WWII. Look anywhere where authority breaks down in the real world, study what the boots-on-ground soldiers did, and this is a graphic example that clearly defines your fate.
So much for Camelot.

lol even though, as has been pointed out, the Rapture is basically not Biblical, I think if it ever happens, there's gonna be a truckload of folk who THINK they're righteous enough to deserve a place on the sky elevator and don't get one, and they're gonna be mighty pissed about that. Unfortunately, given the nature of faith, they'll probably take it out on the rest of us for introducing them to doubt or logic or somesuch inconsequential thing, so ultimately, nah - I reckon the people who are disappointed to be left behind will only shout louder. I'm gonna get into the earplug business myself...

I think the rapture will be what gives the rest of us the green light to start the party! For them it will be like the cosmic "nerds table" in high school.

I think we'll come in here to hand out hugs and words of affirmation to each other. And we'll solve the world's problems in our discussions.

When an unbeliever asks me if I can show any prophecies which have come true, the false rapture doctrine is my first
to point out; Ezekiel 13:::

18) "...Will ye hunt the souls OF MY PEOPLE, and will YE SAVE the souls alive that come unto you?"

19) Will you pollute me for gain, "to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your LYING TO MY PEOPLE that hear your lies?"

20) "...I am against YOUR pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls TO MAKE THEM FLY, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt TO MAKE THEM FLY".

21) I will, "...deliver MY PEOPLE out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand TO BE HUNTED; and ye shall know THAT I AM THE LORD".

22) "Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous SAD, WHOM I HAVE NOT MADE SAD; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, BY PROMISING HIM LIFE:::"

23) "THEREFORE ye shall SEE no more VANITY, nor divine divinations::: for I WILL DELIVER MY PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR HAND: AND YE SHALL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD".

Who was all of this written to? Verse 2, "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy...out of their own hearts". Realize that NOW a Jew is not one "outwardly", but a Jew is one "inwardly", Rom 2:28-29.

God warned us about this false doctrine, which makes the righteous sad. The gospel is good news, and this doctrine is far from good news. Those who are righteous through Christ, are made sad to think loved ones will be "left behind".
What is the promise in all of this? God will deliver HIS PEOPLE OUT OF THE HANDS OF THESE FALSE PROPHETS!!!

These pillows are their doctrines and commandments of men. Verses 10-15, these false teachers are building up a
wall, a church, but they have "daubed it with UNTEMPERED MORTER". They are saying who is a part of the church and who isn't, but 1 Cor 12:24, says "...God hath TEMPERED the body together". They are saying who will go up and who will go down; clearly contrary to God's word!!!

Why? "...for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread", for gain; the "left behind" series has made some people RICH.

edit:

No one home 2day: The ones taken are taken as prey, by
an eagle: Luke 17:36-37, "Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be TAKEN, and the other LEFT. And they answered and said unto him, WHERE, LORD??? And he said unto them, WHERESOEVER THE BODY IS, THITHER WILL THE EAGLES BE GATHERED TOGETHER".

They asked Jesus, taken where? And Jesus told them as a dead body by eagles is taken.
