start with singing her ABC's and work on counting to 20 or 25 then you can start working with colors, buy just the basic 8 pack of crayons for now because all the other ones are variations of those colors anyway, hold up the crayon and let her know what color it is and have her repeat it. Then ask her again what color it is. You can also work on shapes, when she gets older you can start working on how to spell and write her name but you might want to wait until she's an older three for that. Also, teach her what her last name is and what her parents names are. And if you haven't already start working on getting her potty trained now because otherwise she is going to make it a very difficult process. These are just suggestions from what I have done with my daughter. She just turned four and can write all of her abc's and some numbers plus her name and the rest of our family's names too.

At 2.5 you are quite the ways away but read daily with your child, that makes a big difference. Sitting there teaching alphabets etc @ 2.5 is far fetched, the childs attention span is short lived. Show them the learning skills required by reading daily, being quiet when spoken to, also tidying up the toys after they are finished. These are things that I did and have set my 5 yr old apart from the other kids in the class. Also speak in a clear tone to her and expect the same back from her, teaching her to speak effectively is a good thing at such a young age b/c then if they have a problem, they know how to get their message across effectively.

Alphabet, recognizing letters, counting, colors, shapes, writing her name, potty training, getting dressed, tying shoes, social skills, independence (you don't want her crying on her 1st day)

I am a stay at home mom and my husband and I decided to put our oldest in 3 and 4 year old preschool (our school system doesn't offer 4K). Since she was with me every day it was definetly good for her and now that she is in Kindgeraten she sees all of her friends from preschool.

There are lots of things for them to learn and I would suggest preschool. My daughter needed more stimulation than I could give (advanced for her age). She needed a schedule of activites.

Start working on the basics and the rest will fall into place. I know for our other two (3, 1) they will be in preschool for the 2 years also.

Good luck and enjoy this time with her!!

Google the phrase "Preschool Curriculum" and you'll find everything a toddler needs to know from early literacy to basic math concepts, science, music, art, etc. My son is also 2 1/12 and even though I am a teacher, I don't go overboard with my son's education just yet. He's in a 2-3 year old daycare classroom and thriving just fine with his peers. I let him grow and develop at his own pace. Just don't push your daughter to the point where she will dislike learning.

Her name, how to properly use the bathroom, how to be quiet when it's appropriate and how to get along with other children. Beyond that, if she can recogninze lettters and maybe even a few words, that leg up will disappear in a matter of one or two grades, unless of course she's intellectually gifted.

First of all, alot of places won't take them unless they are fully potty trained. Get her used to nap time. Sharing is a big one. Personal hygiene...she's gonna have to start using the potty herself...I taught my daughter how to wipe the seat and put toilet paper on it before sitting down.

Number one on the list: she should know how to come to school every morning, ready to learn.
