I'm afraid your older cat has had her nose put out of joint by the newcomer. This happens a lot.
We rescued a kitten (Mini) and brought her home to our 2 cats. They both freaked out at first but then the older (male) got used to her and sort of mothered her until he got sick and died. The younger (female), Psycho, never did. That was 7 years ago, and every morning we still have the same feeding-time routine. Psycho still clouts Mini with her paw and hisses if she gets too near. Mini's a bit thick because she follows Psycho round everywhere and looks surprised every time she gets a belt. Psycho's best trick is sitting just inside the cat door and batting it shut when Mini's trying to get in.
Don't worry, it's a jungle out there.

Some cats never will get along. For instance. my older cat never did like my young ones, though she did eventually have a truce of sorts with the young female. The male just thought Shadow was a toy (Galahad being rambunctious, and Shadow being a bit small).
Another thing is that your older kitty might really like the younger one but doesn't want to let on about it: My mother once had an older female, and when a male kitten she took in died the female mourned over him more than any of the other cats. And yet she was the one who couldn't stand him.
I do have a question, though it might sound silly: Are both of your girls spayed? If not, they might be seeing eachother as rivals for 'kitten-space'.

They're territorial, and they both think of your home as their territory. A friend of mine had two female cats who behaved the same way and they just never interacted at all. They never got on and rarely met in the house. So long as your cats aren't ripping each other to shreds you'll just have to let them get on with hating each other.

that's just cats i'm afraid. they are solitary creatures by nature. sometimes cats can get along, if they grow up together from the same litter - even then it is no guarantee! i've had my cat for 13 years and made the mistake of getting another in february. old cat still hates new cat too! i love them both to bits and can't bear to get rid of the "new" cat but i know my old cat would prefer him not to be there!

I had the same problem one time. Heres what I did. I put my cat in a cage that was big enough for her to stretch around and (this case it was dogs but for cats same thing) I had it go directly over to were the dogs where. it hissed for about 3-5 days and it eventually made sense it had to get along with dogs. But thats what i did.

introductions might desire to be finished at a sluggish p.c.. have treats obtainable and advantages the cats for no longer hissing and growling they're going to learn advantageous reinforcement this variety. if there is growiling and hissing it extremely is long gone too some distance and you may desire to continually do away with the cats to diffuse the placement. do no longer punish the cats merely separate them. it extremely is going to take an impressive variety of artwork and endurance yet in some weeks they might desire to be gaining know-how of that tolerating one yet another gets them compliment. territory is likewise a huge undertaking. one cat has entered into yet another's turf and that's a sin interior the cat international. take care and robust luck.
