I have generally found them fairly OK and reasonable, despite having major problems with some of the laws they are tasked with enforcing.
There have been a few odd ones who have exhibited bizarre behaviour, such as one a few years ago who said my name no less than 15 times a few years ago when telling me off for speeding (Mr ... blah blah Mr ....blah blah Mr ....
blah blah Mr ....blah blah Mr ....)
What is your opinion? Any funny anecdotes of getting "one over on them" (in reasonable circumstances)
The key thing is to be polite and honest in your dealings with them "Yes I agree I was braking the law, but in this situation obeyance of the law benefits nobody" kind of honesty.

Once and once only have I found a policeman to be unhelpful. Apart from that I have always found them I have always found them polite even on the four occasions I was in the wrong (minor motoring offences) two of which got me points, one a fine with no points, and one thoroughly deserved bollocking. But then I am always polite to them

You will find that, as with most people, you will get a much better response if you are polite when interacting with them, be they Police officers or otherwise.
I have had interaction with the Police even before I joined the job and never really had a bad experience.
When I speak to people in my day to day work, I always try to be courteous and polite, there's no reason not to be and I usually find I get the same response back from them.
However, we all have bad days and I'll be honest in that I sometimes rub people up the wrong way but I'm only human at the end of the day!

Many people can come on Yahoo and cite negative experiences of the police. Not many people want to talk about positive experiences they have had.
Obviously I am a cop therefore I am slightly biased. My job is to enforce laws, be that serious offences or minor ones. Many people agree with the enforcement of the serious offences, however disagree with the enforcement of minor ones.
When you talk about being polite and honest then I agree with you. If I came accross someone committing a minor offence and they were polite and apologetic, then there is more chance that I may just let them off with a warning (this all depends on what the offence is). However if someone had a bad attitude then I would be far less likely to bother with a warning and either fine the person or report them on summons.
I tend to treat people how I find them. I like to be fair and honest.
As for getting one over on me........!!!!!!!

you want to comprehend the thank you to define a corrupt cop dial 911 and assured adequate one will take place at your door. No quite I consider you on a number of your factors. My spouse an I are think of roughly leaving the city that we grew up in that we've lived in for surprisingly much 28 years now. We experience like we will not call the law enforcement officers and function a useful officer come to the door and help. For instants I rather have come airborne dirt and dust bag rolling up a joint precise infront of my residing house with my young little ones looking out the window asking what he's doing. I call the law enforcement officers and what occurs they start in on me because of the fact they say i could desire to have bought it to this guy. I had like $3 hundred funds on me and that they reported it grow to be from promoting drugs. So $3000 in legal expenditures and that i'm getting the fees dropped. My mom in-regulation 60 years previous on no account had lots a parking value ticket is in a roll over vehicle acident. She is being charged with un-intentive utilising because of the fact some witness, who won't be able to even tell the law enforcement officers what course she grow to be coming from says he observed she accomplishing for something. I rather have greater thoughts approximately my residing house city regulation enforcement here yet i think of that the between the priority is that for some years we've got out very own city Attorrny and that i think of that the law enforcement officers will make there comments look greater convicing than they are actual with the desire that they individual won't have the money for to hire a actual attorny. it style of feels to me that the police around here only stopped being concerned on the subject of the communty that they serve and greater approximately one yet another and make themselves look reliable.

As a retired officer, I always found that I received respect. The respect was on a personal basis and I had to work to earn it. Younger officers sometimes had to be broken out of thinking that power allowed them to treat people badly - in real terms the opposite is true and the police are servants. Trouble came when the police were removed from the public. During that period, I heard young officers in passing cars being treated to abuse by the very people who would respectfully address me as Mr ----, just because I would get out of the car and talk to them.
If only the politicians who talk about putting the police back on the beat really meant it.

What is the matter with our Laws? At least we have only one set - not like you in the US with Federal Law and State Law.
Our policemen are very polite and helpful - providing of course you are not breaking our Law - then they come down heavy. But NOT with guns - only the armed squad carry guns and then only when they have to and they have the permission of the Chief Constable of the specific area to arm against terrorists, people held hostage by gunmen and situations like that.
Why don't you visit and see for yourself?
Did you know that we have the most respected Police force in the world

Generally good, but it would be a good idea if they actually knew the law instead of pretending and then getting themselves in to big trouble for making botch ups.
